The June Something Days 1-4
Jun. 19th, 2023 09:49 pmSo I was looking on my f-list/reading page (a thing I need to do way more) and saw that the June something had started so I figured I’d answer the first few questions (the others are here)
Day 1: Did you miss us? We're back! Just kidding. Question: What show or movie original cast would you like to see reunite for an update - where the intervening time has passed and we're getting a view of where they are now along with glimpses on how they got there?
I think there seems to be a trend of this happening in fandoms I’m a part of. in Star Wars we’ve got Ahsoka coming which is not just bringing Ahsoka, but also Hera, Sabine, Chopper and Thrawn (at least), Picard had the TNG crew coming back (for better or worse) but before that had Seven Of Nine (who is a character I love so much). Lower Decks had Kira and Quark from DS9. Doctor Who had Ace and Tegan return (and is having Donna and Mel show up in coming eps). There’s even a new film coming following on from Babylon 5.
So it kinda feels like some choices I’d suggest have already been done.
However there is one that came to mind, and I know it’s been floated around and rumoured for awhile. But it’s Farscape. Farscape is very much my thing, it’s set on a spaceship (a living ship, of escaped prisoners) and it’s such a wild world with amazing effects and characters. I’d love to see what they were all up to now, or even a thing in the same universe.
I’m sure there’s probably a film that would fit but none come to mind that would be doable because cast meme ears are no longer with us.
Day 2: What show or movie would you like rebooted? Same premise and storylines, but all new actors, showrunners, writers, technology, and social awareness?
Reboots are strange things. When they work they work really well. When they don’t they are disasters, is there anything that comes to mind immediately? Not really. I feel like there’s something that’s obvious that im missing or will come to mind.
However there is something that comes to mind, though it’s not a show or movie. There was a game that came out on the GameCube that I’d love to see come back (I doubt it will because I think the studio that made it has gone) and that’s a game called Eternal Darkness Sanity’s Requiem (the Wikipedia entry on it is here.
It’s a cosmic horror story played out over multiple time periods. Each time you’d play as a different character (a Roman centurion, a fireman, a reporter) with a wrap around story in the present day. However what makes this game unique is it had a sanity meter which caused strange things to happen in the game which is so unique. I’d love for it to come back somehow, but it sadly seems it never will.
Day 3: What question would you like to see in The June Something? (We'll steal select a couple for the last two days.)
The only thing that comes to mind is new fandom recs, be it shows, films, games, podcasts, musi. I’m sure I could come up with something for each of them (especially the last two)
Day 4: What's your most treasured piece of fandom merch?
Bonus: What's your most treasured fandom freebie?
Alt Bonus: What's your most expensive piece of fandom merch?
My most expensive thing is probably either Lego (though the more expensive ones tend to be Christmas/birthday gifts rather than ones I get myself) or limited edition things, not that I get many of those.
A treasured fandom freebie is someone I used to know met Jay James (who I mentioned in a post last week) and they got his autograph and a pic he drew (he drew a dick which amused me) and they decided to send it me! Which was pretty sweet,
Hmmm I’m not sure what my most treasured piece of fandom merch would be. I have loved getting the Docto Who collection blu ray box sets and I’m sure once they’ve done them all that would certainly qualify.
Again though, I feel I’m missing something super super obvious that’s staring me in the face.

I went too tired last night to go on The Chant or watching anything but I wasn’t tired enough to sleep. Instead I listened to a Big Finish Audio of the Paternister Gang that was with one of the Who magazines. Damn I wish we got a tv series of Vastra, Jenny and Strax, they have such potential and it’s a shame we’ve not seen them on screen in so long. Hopefully they make a return someday. It was so fun though and I wanna hear more of them.
Today I meant to do the Sleep Token thing but I’ve not yet had the time to fully listen to the album for it. Maybe tomorrow or later in the week.
Thankfully the storm last night has cooled things down though so hopefully the worst is over.
Now I’m watching The Isle Of Wight Festival Highkights and then might go on the chant.
