So here’s today’s post, let’s see what happened.

I made an intro post yesterday, due to all the new people that have added me from snowflake and such, feel free to read (I even had an unexpected new person add me today! Hi!)

Naryu’s grooming went well. She was well behaved for the most part, only growling when thy did her face (the other dogs there made much more noise). She had to be cut shorter than I would have liked, but her knots were just too bad.

I found out today that my tumblr is public again, hurrah! I’m still not gonna use it much though, the damage has been done.

I’ve meant to post fics on ao3, so I’ve posted a few the last few days. I think I’ll post a few more over the next few too

Speaking of fic I’m currently working on one for [personal profile] mcfobr after the fic she did for me. Other than that I have a few possible ideas. More Killjoys stuff, a Palaye fic and a few other random things (I’ve still meant to do an mcr scat fic too). We’ll see how my mind goes after this one.

Last night I ended up watching Torchwood (after doing planet alpha some more which I’ll finish tonight). I watched two eps, Meat and Adam. (I’ll finish the rest of the disc tonight.) Meat just makes me sad for the poor space whale (and would’ve put me off meat if I wasn’t already). Adam just made me wonder how he first came into being. I mean Adam exists by people knowing him... so how did he start off? I mean when the team found him no one would have known him so surely he shouldn’t have existed.

Today’s been a pretty unexciting day. I did uni stuff, watched Father Brown and napped. It’s a shame it’s the last of the series, because that was the best Father Brown ep of the series. It was just so fun! Then there was Palaye’s new video, which, nom wet boys. (And aww Emerson being distracted by something shiny.)

Under the cut are thoughts on the new ep of Discovery which I just watched.

Before we get to the main ep itself, I’m gonna say a few things about the first four short Treks, which got added to Netflix yesterday. They were pretty good though Runaway and Calypso were my favourites. I won’t go in depth into them, but I hope that Netflix will get any future ones in sync with America.

Anyway, into the episode proper. It’s interesting to finally get some insight into Micheal’s relationship with Spock, starting with a flashback to their introduction on Vulcan. Despite the episode being titled Brother (something I hadn’t noticed until I looked it up on memory Alpha) adult Spock doesn’t make any appearance in the episode and the absence was felt. It wasn’t until the end of the episode where some form of explanation was given, setting up one of the central mysteries of this series.

The other one it the mysterious signals and the red angel, which is tied to Spock’s disappearance. What is it? I think it’s too early to speculate properly (there’s simply not enough information) but I suspect it will turn out to be something new.

Another interesting thing to note I saw the new titles. Namely that the actor that plays Cuber is there. Now, it’s been openly hinted he’s returning, but listing him in the credits right from the start seems a bit early. Sure he was in the ep as a hologram, but still.

The new Pike seems pretty good, but it’s hard to judge from just one episode. I hope we’ll get to learn more about him going forward. In fact I hope we get more episodes focussed on the rest of the cast in general. So much of the first season was focussed on Micheal it felt like we never got to properly learn about them.

Statmets wanting to leave caught me by surprise, but was completely understandable. I suspect that he won’t leave though, already by the end he seemed interested again in the bit of the asteroid so I suspect he’ll stay. And Tilly was adorable. I didn’t like he at first, but she has grown on me.

And how awesome was that engineer on the medical frigate keeping those patients alive despite not being a doctor?

So yeah, we’ll see how things play out over the season. Hopefully things stay pretty strong.

So I’ve also decided I’m gonna watch something on Shudder each Saturday, like I was going to before. I dunno what I’ll watch yet, but I’ll leave some thoughts on whatever I do. I’m also gonna watch something in the afternoon, maybe Solo.

I've really enjoyed this series of Father Brown - it's always an romp to see Flambeau, and nice Fleucia appearances AND surprise!Inspector Sullivan. Ah, it's a lovely way to start the year and I, like you, am sad it's finished... I mean, it's great that we get it all at once, but it's SO LONG until the next series.

I LOVE Tilly (she's definitely grown on me, too, and I think a lot of that's to do with the growth of the character? She's charming and at base such a good person, and they're allowing her to grow and knock the corners off a bit). I like Pike a great deal, although he does rather fit in the "interchangeable old charming white guy in charge" mould for me right now, I'm hoping that will change as we get to know him a bit more.

They've set up some interesting things for the season, which is great, and I'm excited to see what comes next.
