We all sing together
Oct. 18th, 2025 01:16 amSo I’ve been back from tonight’s gig for just under an hour so I’m gonna do a quick post about it before flopping (and either heading up or watching something).
Train travel was fine, though I’m always a bit lost when I have nothing to do. With just my phone I don’t like using it, especially since it has the ticket on so I was just flop. Though admittedly Wednesday left me rattled about travelling (thankfully all the people I encounter today have been nice and there’s been no issues so faith in humanity restored). Annoying there was a delay pulling into the station so we were 15-20 minutes late. Which ugh, it had a knock on effect to things I’ll get to. Also since the ticket machine was (again) shuttered and no one was on the train I had to get one at the Birmingham station which was a further delay.
First stop was the station’s Krispy Kreme cause I had a free birthday donut so figured I could use it. When I mentioned I hadn’t had one since before my surgery the lady said ‘oh I’ll give you two!’ So I got an extra one which was nice. A+ nice Krispy Kreme lady. (Plus she was patient with the phone doing its usual slowness!)
I looked in the Lego store to see the new stuff and the gingerbread AT-AT does look nice and the game boy looks just like an actual one.
Alas due to the delays when I got to Primark the cafe was already closed up (and by not long either cause they were people finishing food) so if the train hadn’t been delayed I’d have got something. Bam. Next to it was an area with Stranger Things merch and there was a lot of new stuff. The Primark site has a lot of Hawkins Tigers stuff so I had assumed that was what they’d have most of but damn was it dwarfed by the Hellfire club merch. There was loads of it, from key rings to bags, to an awesome jacket with the logo on the bag (I have a mighty need). None of this stuff is on the Primark site but I took pics I’ll upload. All I got was a keyring cause of the gig which looks pretty cool.
Also hmv has a huge section too when I looked in to pass the time. They even have the DND set with Eddie on it which looks cool but damn it is weighty! I have no idea why, nothing on the box sounds that heavy but somehow it is.
After wandering around to kill time (and nomming donuts) I went to the venue. Turns out, much like when I went to see Apocalyptica forever ago, there was another gig tonight too so there lines for the different gigs and people got confused.
Inside I took a few pics of the merch to post on Reddit, since someone there was nice enough to post merch from the Eu gigs and this was the first uk date. I’d decided from those pics I wasn’t gonna get anything, one of the tour tees did look nice but not £40 nice. There was some new stuff for our dates though and there was a really nice hoodie but damn it was £65 (and since I’d seen that jacket I was like… nope). They did have some of the graphic novels Claudio (the singer) does though so I did pick one up, since they’re impossible to find when I’ve looked.
I got a decent spot, closer to the stage than usual and waited for the first support. (The wait time did make me think that I might have been able to see one of the black phone 2 showings but ah well) the first support act were pretty good! They were from Belfast and played instrumental stuff which was surprising, but they were really great! They’re called And So I Watch You From Afar and I’m definitely gonna check them out.
I did leave my spot to check if they had a cd but alas all they had were vinyls and I’m baffled that vinyls are sold at gigs, especially with the lecture of ‘you can’t bring in bags bigger than a4’. So why sell vinyls which are bigger than that? Bah.
I did lose my good spot for nothing but did get a slightly more central one which was good and probably better,
Anyway Coheed came on after that and I thought they were amazing and put on a great show. The energy of the crowd did feel a bit different from usual (don’t ask me to explain it though) but it was still good. I love Claudio and he played his heart out. (And yeah I love his curls which flung around like crazy sometimes.) and his smile is so cute. Plus he has such skills I dunno how he can play guitar vertically and stuff (or a double necked one)
I’m so glad they played two of my three fav songs from the new album, cause The Flood and Tethered Together are such epic songs (hopefully they’ll play play the poet another time) and it did make me love Searching For Tomorrow more too.
(I wasn’t a fan of the flashing stage lights though, mostly it was fine but there was one right in my eyeline that was so bright I had to close my eyes)
I am so glad I went, especially after missing out on seeing them before. Sure the ticket was more than 8d have liked but it was a good time. Maybe I’ll finally get round to putting on the dvd of theirs I ebayed awhile ago.
When I got to the station I went and grabbed a drink (cause I needed one after singing), but was annoyed the Tesco was closed 15 minutes before it was supposed to be so I had to get something else instead. But damn the train coming back was so full. I dunno why it’s usually quiet this late but nope, I had to go through three carriages to get a seat and that was a flip down one.
I did read some of the graphic novel I picked up but I have to admit. I was a bit lost. I feel I picked the wrong one (and it lacked the usual thing that other graphic novels have at the start with a brief recap of things). Still it’s pretty good despite that. (Though the villian being called Ryan means I can’t take them seriously)
When I got home I found out Set It Off have a thing with Kerrang, with a cool looking vinyl, zine and signed postcard. (It’s not sold out insanely quick like the signed Micheal/Awsten one). I might pick it up if it stays awhile, even though I didn’t like the new song on first listen. (But I mean look at it, it’s purple!) but damnit why are bands doing all the things now (5sos also did a Dork magazine cover and Luke looks so slutty)
Anyway now I’m gonna rest and it’s the eye test. I’m gonna take a bit of cash out in cause I go to the horror market (i can always put it back when I see Black Phone 2 if nothing’s there or I don’t go due to weather/energy).

Date: 2025-10-18 06:34 am (UTC)I've noticed at many gigs they now sell canvas bags, ostensibly to carry the other things you buy at the merch table. I hate capitalism.
I'm glad you had a good time!
