Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom post time, spoilery thoughts behind the cut.

So we went to Cannock cinema to see it and there was quite the crowd. There was a queue outside and the actual room was quite full too. I'd never seen it so full before actually, not since the old days when we saw, of all things, Flubber to a full cinema.

No trailers, cause Cannock, so it jumped right in to it. Also from the start it shown how utterly thoughtless the people are (are they ingen or someone else now?). Sending a tiny sub where the mesosaur lives) I think that's what it is called) is thoughtless. Of course it eats them and then it gets let out... And it's not mentioned again until the end of the film.

Then it mves on. Isla Nublar has a volcano which has become active (which begs the question why build a park there in the first place). Dr Malcolm makes good points in his little cameo (both at the start and end of the film). Claire is fighting for dino rights with a cutie and a spunky paleo vet (both who should have been in it more). Of course a rich benefactor shows up at the last minute to help out, though it doesn't ring any alarm bells for her.

The bad guys, as is revealed pretty quick) remind me so much of the Umbrella corporation. Only caring for research? Check. Secret underground labs? Check. Only caring about weaponising their research? Check. They even have a ship call arcadia.

Anyway, not much time was spent on Nublar really. The bad guys show their true colours and the volcano goes off not long after they arrive. The last scene as they leave, seeing the volcano consume the island, did make me teary though, it was such a sad scene.

I had been a bit worried, from the trailers and such, that it would end up feeling like a redo of The Lost World. (Are there still dinos on Site B? It's not mentioned, which is odd.) Thankfully it wasn't and the people that got kiled and eaten were all the villians of the piece (or rich assholes trying to buy dinos). I have to wonder what happened to Doctor Wu though, I expect him to be in the final film, but I wonder how he turned from the research in the first film to being so willing to make all these hybrids.

I'm glad Maise set the dinos go, I had a feeling she would press the button. (And I liked that the indoraptor got killed by the tricertops skull.)

I did enjoy the film though, it was pretty good, (though I went in with slightly lowed expectations). It did feel like there was something missing, something neither me or mum could put our finger on.

I wonder where things will go in the third film. Obviously you can't have dinos running round, especially the carnivores and weaponisation just sounds awful. I guess we'll see

Anyway, now E3 time, yess.
