I don’t usually mention politics here but the last few days have been… crazy.
So in brief (to non-uk people) last week it came out that an MP drunkenly groped someone. At the time I didn’t think much of it (in the sense that, yes it was bad, but it’s not unheard of sadly) but things quickly unravelled. First ministers claimed this was a new thing. Then it turned out that nope, it wasn’t. So then the story changed that Boris didn’t know…. Until someone came out and said he was expressly told about it. Even so, I didn’t expect anything to happen about it. Because this government has lied and covered up stuff like this before.
But I dunno, there must have been something about this that was the final straw for people. Because members of the government started resigning, including members of his own cabinet. Ministers that had been on tv defending the government just days before also resigned, clearly pissed they’d been told lies about the situation.
And then it spiralled. Bpeople we’re resigning left and right, to the point that counters were put on screen. Before I went to bed last night it was over 42, this morning it’s over 50. It looked like Boris would cling on, but I woke today and found he’d resigned. Well more like ‘resigned’. He wants to cling on till autumn or a new leader is chosen which… (10 to 1 he’ll be ousted before then though.)
But yeah, it was oddly riveting stuff, hearing the support he’d had drain away. Hearing how he was brutally questioned at a meeting yesterday. Seeing the numbers of resignations go up.
And to be clear I have no sympathy for those that have resigned. These people knew who he was, they’ve seen him lie and screw up. They’ve seen this government be incompetent or downright cruel. They’re only leaving now not out of some sort of integrity (though maybe one or two have) but because they know he’s finished.
Of course I’m sure whoever replaces him will also be those things, because that’s what this government is and the only way to make things better is to get ride of them all. But I’m still gonna enjoy this moment, even though it is disturbing how many people still ‘back Boris’ and claim he’s got the ‘big calls right’ which is so fucking laughable. The only thing he cares for is power and himself.

Anyway. Tuesday was blood test attempt 2. It was a nice day and I was glad I went by the pool cause I saw ducklings! It’s only the second time I’ve seen any this year and there were three. They were so fuzzy and cute and ahh!
The blood test went… well first it looked like nothing would come again (even less than before) but then the nurse suggested I drink and that seemed to help.
Season 5 of Grimm is finishing this week… but for some reason pick isn’t putting the last season on. It’s… odd to suddenly end it like that (instead it’s being replaced with random things, so it might be on Thursday or Friday I’ve not checked). Then again I’ve kinda lost interest in it, so I’m not sad it’s over and I’m not gonna actively chase it up.
Fortnite had its weekly update yesterday and it added Indiana Jones. They clearly know people like him, cause the second outfit has him sleeveless in an open shirt showing his chest which is nice. I managed to complete the quests today, but have to admit the temple one was hard. Trying to solve a puzzle while likely being shot at by other players? Not fun.
There’s currently an event thing that ends today but I’ll doubt I’ll get the last prize (finishing in top 5multiple times is just too hard and luck based). Once that’s done my focus will shift back to Elder Scrolls Online (I wanna finish the Deadlands before starting high isle) and then do random games, including Moo Lander which I won the other week.
I’m still hoping to get some big things I wanna do soon. I need to look into the next uni course, start lesser known monsters and The Umbrella Academy. And I need to try and get back in fic mode, my brain hasn’t been co-operative at all. I dunno if I’ll do any of those before the end of the week, as mums friend comes Saturday and then there’s a Roswell and Download thing.
(We were gonna watch Thor but since then hee friend wanted to come so it’s pushed back a week, which suits me.)

Date: 2022-07-08 11:31 am (UTC)Same here, the lot of them need to go because they’re all rotten to the core. None of them are fit to lead

Date: 2022-07-08 11:06 pm (UTC)I know Labour want one to be called, because they know they’d likely win, but I don’t think the tories are too keen on it for the same reason. They don’t have any principles or integrity, they’re just self serving and corrupt..
But honestly, I think one will happen in the foreseeable future,

Date: 2022-07-10 03:41 pm (UTC)I knew Boris would have to be dragged out kicking and screaming, he doesn't have one little bit of integrity in his whole body.
Thor is so great! I hope you enjoy when you see it.

Date: 2022-07-10 09:24 pm (UTC)I expected it too. It seems like he will cause he’s just… squatting now. And all the worst people are competing to replace him. Ugh
The plan was to see it next Saturday but that might not happen. Mums friend who was here yesterday found out she had covid today so…
