Strange matter

So I started the season 24 boxset last night with Time And The Rani, thoughts ahoy.
If you looked in the dictionary for the words ‘troubled production’ you’d probably find this episode. From the season 24 booklet it’s probably a miracle it got done at all.
First off, the regeneration. It happens in the pre credits sequence and… well. He essentially regenerates from turbulence. The booklet states that they tried to get Colin back so he’d regenerate at the end, but since he’d been fired instead of left on his own he understandable didn’t want to come back (unless it was for a full season). As such the ep was written for him, and then altered when it was realised he wouldn’t come back.
The Rani returns for this ep, having previously been in Mark Of The Rani, which is one of my favourite Sixth Doctor eps, largely because of her. She does a pretty good performance here too, even though she spends a large section at the start pretending to be Mel. It’s a shame they’ve not bought her back in new Who yet, she’s one of the characters I’d like to see return.
Speaking of Mel why does she have weird shoulder pad things? She doesn’t endear herself in this ep, spending large sections screaming (which always makes me wince). If who was a Lego game her power would be breaking glass with her scream (which yep is an actual ability in at least two games)
The effects are pretty good, especially the bubble traps. And the make up for the aliens are pretty good too, especially for the tetraps. And I like the pyramid things in the Rani’s lab (and her tardis) and the big brain looks pretty good.
So yeah, all in all it was a better episode than I remember it being and, while there were some iffy parts, there were good things to it too. I’ll be watching the special features tonight and there’s a lot of them, a two page spread for one disc so it might take awhile.
Plus there seems to be hints a new boxset reveal is coming (and stuff is being filmed for one too). I’m hoping for season 20.
My net last night was a bit odd and kept coming and going. I really need someone to come and sort the box out.
I’ve woke up today feeling a bit off and woozy. Hopefully I’ll feel better after eating and then can watch Loki.
I wanna try and read some of my current book, Into The Dark, since the next one in the series came last night (along with the cute lil Lego lizard from Frozen 2). I also wanna read some of the graphic novels I have, but it depends on my focus.
We saw the geese while walking the pup and they’re fully grown now! They look just like their parents, just a tiny bit smaller. Plus we saw another tiny frog.

A little, it’s annoying!
Me too🖤
