So it’s almost 4am and I’ve not slept yet so it’s time for a love meme post, this time about something pretty new to me. Sumikko Gurashi.

The name translates as life in the corner and it’s about a bunch of creatures (and for some reason food) that like to live in corners. There’s more info about them on wiki and their official site. I think they’re all pretty cute, though year the food ones are pretty strange.
I stumbled onto these things a few days ago. I was playing one of my app games that has ads (I’m not sure which one, though I suspect it’s probably Penguin Isle which is itself a cute thing [about, obviously, penguins]) when one of the ads caught my eye. It was called Sumikko Farm and, as the name suggest, it’s a farming app. (Although it’s not super farmy yet.) It took a few days of me playing before I wondered if these characters were from something else, so I looked them up and ended up reading about them on wiki and it just made me love them more now I know a bit more about them. It seems they’ve become a pretty big deal over in their native Japan with plushies and all kinds of other merch. There’s even a film, though I’m not sure if it’s got translated or subtitled anywhere.
The company behind them has a youtube with little videos of them, so I’m gonna watch them and hope that I can follow them despite not knowing much Japanese. But yeah, look how cute!
