Feb. 9th, 2023 01:17 pmSo Fall Out Boy have announced a Uk tour, good luck to anyone trying to get a ticket! There is a Birmingham date (and on Halloween which should be fun) but I don’t have the resources to get a ticket and I’m not sure I like them enough to want to go through the stress of trying to get one even if I did. So good luck everyone!
Speaking of things I can’t get to I’m still a bit sad I missed out on Star Wars Celebration. The tickets went up at such a bad time and went before I could get the money (and now there’s only scattered day tickets) so I just wrote off going and decided to watch from home instead of attempting to sort something out. It’s probably for the best anyway, since it’s just a few weeks after the Lovejoy gig.
(Which will drain resources because I’ll want to be sure I have money in case I get stuck like Set It Off and I wanna be able to get some James merch if there’s something nice…. And maybe a Lovejoy thing too. And also Who ray is around then too)
Anyway, yesterday I did some Magic arena and I did a draft thing. It’s only the third one I’ve done and yet every time I’m useless (I seem to get such bad draws in the games that I can’t do anything and the other person does better). Still at least I got two of the new planeswalker out of it as well as some cards to make a deck with the new set so it wasn’t a total loss.
Last night was also the Nintendo Direct. There wasn’t too much that stood out. Really. Pikmin looks cute and has a pupper, Splatoon 3 has dlc coming that let’s you go back to the older games location (but not much else so seems like just a pointless reskin, though there is another part that seems intriguing), Game Boy games are coming to Nintendo switch online (and game boy advance ones if you have the expansion thing) and Mario Kart has a brand new course and Birdo. And there was a first look at Dreamlight Valley’s lion king stuff which looks cool.
Main interesting things were Ghost Trick, which I’ve heard such good things about I’ll definitely have to pick-up, and, of course, Zelda. There’s a new trailer that I think I’ll have to watch again (I didn’t see any sign of Prince Sidon boo). There’s a car thing for some though.but it looks cool, and there’s a collectors addition and an amiibo of the new style Link so you just know I’m preordering them as soon as Nintendo puts them up.
Of course just before the direct the twitter decided Ito push one of its ‘improvements’ which naturally backfired and killed all functionality for most of the direct which was so fucking stupid. It seems to be sorted now but honestly? The whole platform has been a tire fire since musk decided to screw with everything with no thought.
After it I decided to watch 1408 on film4 which was pretty good. It was suitably spooky enough with an evil room (what was the deal with that?) and it had good use of the song ‘it’s only just begun’ (I think that’s the title of it, it’s at least a lyric). It’s not something I think I’d watch again though. There was a trailer during an ad break saying Hereditary is gonna be on next week so I might check that out too since I’ve never seen that. (Is it worth a watch anyone that’s seen it?)
When I was at Sainsburys Monday I spotted Lego explorer magazine which hadn’t come yet, so I found the details and contacted them thinking it might’ve gotten lost or delayed. Apparently subscriptions have stopped now, with no warning, so I’ve gotta pick it up in stores (and should have Monday) which is a bit of a nuisance.
Plan for the rest of the day are to basically snuggle (since head seems to be ok) and maybe game. I might do some more magic arena or finally get back on Pokémon violet (especially since the Xbox uk stream is just valorant). Then tonight is the next of the Who Ray run.
I’m also hoping to try and get back to ficcing so I might just work on a short thing to start with (there’s three things that might be short ideas but… we’ll see).
