Iceworld, sounds nice
Jul. 23rd, 2021 05:19 pmWednesday Pokemon Unite came out which is pretty good. It’s a bit annoying with all the different currencies though, as well as unclear how you get some (there’s a general currency, one for clothes, one for holowear for Pokemon and a premium one). I like Venusaur and Aloalan Ninetales most so far.
On Monday and Tuesday night Naryu came down and went to the back door, and it was if she knew that Leia was out there wanting to come in. So when she came down Wednesday night I assumed it was for the same reason…. But she was out there for ages. So I grabbed my pad and headed out and found her growling at a little bird on the floor. It was a little fledging, fully feathered, and I dunno if it fell out a tree or something. It seemed to be fine, so I put it somewhere a bit safer and got Naryu in. They were gone when I went out yesterday morning, so hopefully they’re oki.
I did end up trying Death’s Door yesterday and it is so easy to die. It’s cute, but boy is it hard. At least if you unlock doors they don’t reset when you die which is good.
It’s been cooler today which is so good, though still warm.
The Olympics opening was today and it was very low key…. Though I think it’s definitely a bad idea to go through with it. Not just because of the controversy and issues (and people for the Paralympics having to pull out because support couldn’t go with them) but also because there’s a pandemic and cases are high there. It all seems absurd.
I’m waiting on something that I preordered and it says it’s gonna come Wednesday…. But it also says if you order now you can get it tomorrow, so which is true? It’s happened before I had a date and then it got bought forward with hours warning but it’s still annoying. (It’s a bunch of the new MTG DND cards)
Another bit of The Umbrella Academy merch has turned up. It seems the dvd/blu ray of season one is coming out, in just under two weeks, but it seems there’s no special features (other than art cards and poster) which seems like such a missed opportunity. I could be wrong of course. (I hope I am.) also there’s a figure reveal of Cha Cha which seems like an odd choice for the next reaveal, though she does have two heads.
Speaking of merch there’s been a new merch drop of MCR stuff, based on Danger Days. There’s hoodies, masks and some other things and they all seem pricey, plus I bet the shipping is horrendous. Maybe I’ll get one if they ever get added to the uk store.
It’s comic con this weekend so I might watch some of the panels. I know there’s some people on here that like stargate and there’s a fair few of them on.
New Magnum PI is on Monday so I’m looking forward to that. Let him be topless again. And mums friend is coming tomorrow so I might do the icons I need to while staying upstairs.
On Wednesday I ended up watching the last season 24 Doctor Who ep (a day late cause of Maxx streaming) so thoughts on Dragonfire ahoy.
As a three part ep it’s pretty tight, which in some ways is good and in some ways isn’t. It’s got some pretty interesting concepts (and the dragon is an interesting design, kinda xenomorph like) but there’s also some questionable things. The most questionable thing is the scene that ends the first ep, with the Doctor on a literal cliffhanger… which seems completely unnecessary. He just decides to go over a railing and try to climb down a cliff face, which is a baffling decision. It was meant to be cause it was a dead end, but the ledge he starts on looks bigger (and Glitz is able to get down to a lower level via another route easy enough).
Also strange is why Kane spent 3000 years on Iceworld… and didn’t send anyone after the dragon. It makes sense he didn’t, but why didn’t he send his people (especially as they had weapons that could kill it). And why was he able to get people there anyway? He’s meant to be a prisoner but has got his own people there and his prison became a spacesport (implied to be under his control). And why didn’t he just…. Get on board a ship that came.
Good things though, the effect of Kane’s face melting is still great (though it’s sudden). Balesz is a pretty interesting character, though it’s a shame she dies. Ace is introduced and she’s pretty good in this. And Mel leaves at the end, which is sudden and comes out of nowhere, but is at least welcome.
Gonna try and watch more of the special features tonight and over the weekend, then it’s waiting to see which comes next.
Might do a locked post later or at some point but we’ll see,
