Song Saturday will be a bit later, as I have to decide which to use.

The last few days have been pretty uneventful. I’ve still had issues even opening the laptop to do uni stuff though which is annoying. At least yesterday had a reasoning: my tummy was funny. It seems it was due to something we both ate since mom felt the same (so I suspect it was the one party food thing from m and s that we had Thursday).

I really wish the radio would stop playing those ads about checking in with people because ugh, it makes me overthink.

Maxx started doing a DnD thing but since it was late I watched it yesterday. It makes me want to play because it looks fun but I’ve no idea where to begin or anything like that. Ah well I’ll just live through his streams instead.

Last night there was Death In Paradise, a second part of a two parter and it was nice to see some people coming back. And I’m glad it worked out. After that I had the Monterey Bay stream on and then watched Lower Decks. I watched two last night so there’s just one left and it’s so fun. I hope there’ll be more.

I’ve not done much gaming alas since my focus hasn’t been there too much. I’ve done some monster train but never managed to complete a run which is annoying. Same issue with races on Star Wars racer, I’ll do ok then towards the end lose ground.

I really need to get back on Fallen Order again, especially after the new Cal figure, who has a cute googling that looks like a lil eevee,

I did manage to get a decent sleep last night which was good.

Tonight we’ll either watch the masked singer or the Miss Fisher film, then I’m gonna watch something on shudder tonight and maybe game.

I’m sure I was gonna say something else too though my head’s gone blank.

Song Saturday - The Used 1

So I wasn’t sure what I was gonna put for today’s song Saturday, but the one that was on the top of my definite to feature list was this one so I figured ‘why not?’ especially since I just followed hourly Bert on twitter so was in a Bert mood.

(You might also notice that unlike the others so far this entry’s subject has a number, because I’m definitely going to revisit The Used again at some point.)

So let’s get one thing out of the way first. There is a long standing rumour that this song was written about Gerard. Now weather it was we’ll never know (I recall Bert denied it at the time) but it’s something that has definitely stuck around.

The video itself is about the boys going out partying, and, honestly, such things usually aren’t my thing. However it’s what happens towards the end that has always had it stuck in my memory. Jepha is in a dress, with make up (and if you have the version on the dvd, when he lifts the dress you catch sight of his balls).

What’s strange to me is how something like that didn’t.... massively spark a fics. In fact there’s a lot of the things that The Used have done that should have lead to lots of content. (Like Bert kissing all of the guys, or interviews where Dan and Jepha openly say that they hooked up). It’s pretty sad that, when you go into The Used tag, it’s pretty much all Bert/Gerard content and with a lot of Bert being a bad guy. And yeah, Bert/Gerard is hot, but why is there no attention paid to the rest of the band? It’s kinda sad.

Today I watched the last of the Miss Marple films that I got mum for Christmas. It’s a shame they never made more and as do wonder why, though I guess since the lead actress was quite old that could have been a factor.

I also watched Wandavision and I have further questions. And that reveal at the end!

Then I ended up watching Solo, which I’m gonna make as my thing I love for today.

Solo is the only one of the new films that I didn’t see at my local cinema. It didn’t have a midnight showing unlike the rest, which was a factor. Instead we saw at the cinema in Walsall and there wasn’t too many people there. I remember tht I had to go back in when it finished because I left my jacket there, but they were ok with me doing that,

I always feel sorry for Solo as a film. There had been issues behind the scenes and, in the lead up to it, there was hardly any promo to do with it. Merch for it (other than lego) was hard to find. There wasn’t that many adverts or anything and it seemed, in some ways, to get ignored. And that’s a real shame because it really is a great film and a lot of fun

First off there’s the soundtrack. It’s my favourite of all of the new films and I can (and have) listened to it loads. I hum bits randomly sometimes, and definitely did when watching it.

Second is it’s a film that has lots of little references to the other films. Some are really obvious (the gangster on Tatooine) while others are less so (mentions of planets from the prequels and Scariff) which others are ones to the new Disney park which wasn’t even open then (name checked by Black Spire). There’s a lot of work to show how it’s interconnected and that’s one thing I love about the new canon (and I think that’s one thing I didn’t like about Episode IX but I digress).

Then there’s the reveal at the end which had so much potential. That’s a thing about Solo it had so much potential to spin things off, a follow up film, something with Enfys, something with Qi’ra, something with Lando. It’s a shame then that nothing happened from it for such a long time and why I’m so glad there’s gonna be a Lando show.

Speaking of potential there’s so many interesting characters in it, it’s a shame that most don’t survive the film. (And it’s a shame there’s not been anything done with them.) Val and Rio definitely deserved better. (And speaking of, one of the few promo things they did do was have people on twitter ask questions for the cast to answer. I sent in a kind of general one and was so surprised when it got answered!)

Plus I love the design of First light (Dryden’s ship) it’s so pretty.

Here’s hoping the Lando series means we get to see more of these characters (because he’s awesome and he had such chemistry with Han) though equally I’d love to see the adventures he’s mentioned in his recording of the Calrissian chronicles (which seem east partially based on an old book series).
