The past few days have been a bit... well blah.

On Monday we finished The Umbrella Academy, which is something I’ll talk more on later (I should’ve done a post about it closer to the time but... oh well.

Monday night after it I just got drained again, so instead of going on ESO like I was gonna do, I got fed up with it after one death and then just... flopped and listened to Maxx’s stream.

Yesterday was... mostly uneventful. Largely this was because I felt.... untethered. My depression was being a bitch and I was drained and tired. So I spent most of the day just lying there, a bit blah. Even the lego Mario set coming didn’t help much with it. (Probably because the actual build of the starter set was so quick, if a bit disjointed.)

I ended up watching some stuff on Disney+ last night cause the scheduling is all weird. First I watched Muppets Now which, I really wanted to like because Muppets, but it was a bit... blah. Then I watched Emperor’s New Groove which is definitely more fun. Kronk is such an adorable idiot.

(I do think the idea of charging $30 to watch new films on Disney+ that came up last night is definitely ridiculous and, if true, I won’t use it)

After the id at Xbox stream I started Power Of The Daleks, which I vaguely remember watching on dvd, especially when it started. I watched the first three episodes before getting tired. It is a little slow, which tends to be a thing with the older eps but there’s also the thing.... you think that people would have sense not to mess with daleks especially seeing how dangerous they are. But honestly, this is 2020 and we’re seeing just how dumb people are.

This morning I went to pick up mum’s meds, which went... mostly badly. I went in TK and Sainsburys first and was able to get a few things (new earphones and books from tk, some Lego from sainsburys, including some stuff on sale and the Mario blind bags) but when I got to Boots... the doctor hadn’t sent the prescription in. So they have to chase it up. It might be ready tomorrow but... I’m not optimistic. Ugh.

Worryingly when I got back mum said that Wolverhampton, where we went just last week, is now going under lockdown or something which... is not good.

Anyway onto The Umbrella Academy, spoilers for season 2 under the cut.

First off, the subject line has been in my head for the second half of the series. It definitely feels appropriate.

*The Dave storyline still felt unnecessary, only there to induce Klaus angst which... that felt unfair. Klaus should’ve gone to Dallas to escape the cult/look out for the rest of the Academy instead. (And the cult never really seemed to be highlighted as much as it should’ve been)
*And also, after building up the Klaus and Diego relationship in season 1 to have them hardly together seemed to be a waste. (Although there was some good interactions, Diego holding his neck, calling Klaus daddy, Klaus essentially calling him hot twice)
*Ben possessing Klaus was a mix between cool and iffy, and then him going into Vanya’s mind and then Going was a bit... odd. (And another flaw with the Dave storyline being in was he seemed to ‘mourn’ him at the end opposed to Ben)
*Poor Diego, being treated like shit by Reggie (he deserved a hug) and being kidnapped by Lila. (And wtf, why did he say he loved her at the end? She was an absolute jerk to him, no)
*I spotted two comic references, the televator and AJ being called Carmichael. (And him being eaten though not by Give)
*I suspect there’ll be more Diego/Luther fic, plus Luther/Five and Ben/Diego, don’t let me down internet
*Luther was much more likeable this season, although he was also much more of an idiot. (As mum said he’s all brawn no brains.) And I’m glad they didn’t erase his and Allison’s relationship.
*Reginald is a jerk, to pretty much everyone. But then he does show his alien side, so how did the season 1 post mortem miss that? But ugh his words at Ben’s funeral...
*Although why meet at the tiki bar?
*Poor Vanya, being the cause of the apocalypse again, albeit not directly because of her (she was tortured after all). It’s a shame Sissy didn’t come with her but it was so nice at the end when everyone decided to come with her. That was nice.
*Allison’s plot line was a pretty good one, although it’s a little odd that Claire only got mentioned twice. But it was nice seeing the racists rumoured
*Five was his usual self and Unf when he got as happy. And him saying to Luther that he’s the daddy
*Lila as I mentioned, I didn’t like her. I know we’re supposed to be sympathetic to her but... honestly, she kidnapped Diego and used him and just... no. Also there was next to no foreshadowing towards her sudden powers at the end (though I guess it explains the Five fight?) I know during casting there was a mention she was a chameleon but... I think the Academy forgiving her so quickly was absolutely a bit much. She’ll come back in season 3 I’m sure but... ugh.
*The Handler was the big bad this time, as much as one could be said there was. She had such great costume choices and, well I’m not surprised the stuff with the swedes came to bite her like it did.
*The last scene though... Sparrow Academy Ben is hot, and I wonder if he’s the new number 1. Are the other Academy members new people? I suspect so, since it seems Reggie would be spiteful enough to avoid them after their meeting.
*As someone said on tumblr, maybe season 3’s villain will be the fact that they’re back for 2020

Disney are fucking evil incarnate. I desperately want to watch Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I do not want to give Disney money. It's a dilemma, not gonna lie.

I don't think Wolverhampton is in lockdown yet (they're not even on the watchlist yet, or they weren't as of last Friday when it was last published). That said, the infection rate is markedly higher there than the England average, so watch this space. If it's an upward trend, I can see it happening.

On a lighter note, I do need to go watch the second season of UA

Re Wolverhampton, I think there has been some stories in the local papers saying it could happen(based on a quick google search), so that may be where she's got the idea from?

I have to admit, while I enjoyed this season of TUA I preferred the first one.

Like I said I much prefered Luther this time, but all brawns and no brain is right. I felt for him often because he seems to react on a very basic level, his world seems very black and white, which is weird as his relationship with Allison is shades of grey.

I enjoyed Allison's storyline and her marriage seemed solid, but yeah, she's a mam, she should have mentioned Claire more often, even if it was only to her sibs. But I did love how she showed her kick-ass side, and the fact her powers can be scary. The scene where her husband asked if she'd rumoured him into loving him was, ouch.

I wasn't keen on Lila. She did play Diego for a fool and the sudden reveal of her powers didn't really work for me. Her going from the bad guy to part of the family seemed far too abrupt.

I wanted more of Klaus in the cult, but again, I love how it showed too much attention could get too much very easily, and of course, his scenes with Ben. Again, ouch along with the love. I can't imagine how hard it must be for Klaus to suddenly be alone.

I suspect Five/Luther will happen a lot more too. They had some good interactions, maybe some youngFive/oldFive/Luther, and all the side effects that would come with that. So much sweating, farting and paranoia.

But yeah, it's Vanya I felt for the most. She looked so happy at one point, only to have all that happiness torn from her again.
