Yesterday we went food shopping though it was almost a disaster. I’d told mum the time on Sunday, but clearly she hadn’t listened. I’d slept downstairs since we were going at 8, but mum didn’t wake me so we got a call from mums friend. That led to use both rushing to get out and heading there.

I’d heard that the queue a few days ago was all over the place but it was fairly short which was good. Vulnerable/elderly were in until 9 so I had to wait awhile but they still let us in early anyway. It was weird being there so early and the place so quiet, plus it was odd going in alone. I think I’d have gone crazy if I didn’t have my pod thing (playing 5 Seconds Of Summer). Thankfully it was pretty well stocked so I got toilet roll and even eggs! There were still some areas that were empty (rice, pasta, some frozen stuff) but on the whole I got 95% of what I went in for. Though it was odd, cause it cost more than the last one but... eh.

While I was in there mum went into pets at home and m and a and she got some eggs too thinking I’d not get any, os now we have more than enough. Expect egg based things to come.

I found out yesterday that Sandi Toksvig is doing this thing on youtube called Vox Tox and we watched the first yesterday. It’s about what happened on that day in history and it’s funny so I’m gonna watch that every night now.

Also yesterday I got Disney + from my boy. He set my name on there with the child as an icon which was sweet. I wasn’t gonna watch anything cause I was tired, but I put the old Robin Hood on for mum. We had it on vhs when I was a kid and I know it’s one of the ones mum liked.

I spent most of the day on and off Animal Crossing, cause CJ was there so I made money off fish. I paid off a good chunk of my house loan on it though it so that was useful. I also order the Animal Crossing guide. I wouldn’t usually but with everything being cancelled and being on lockdown....

Boris has been moved to intensive care. I don’t wish death on him even though he is a jerk, but I do hope after this it shows that the NHS should be properly funded and not get any cuts ever again. it wouldn’t surprise me if there weren’t changes that would make the country better in the long run coming from this crisis, if only they have the courage and compassion to actually do it. (Though with Tories I don’t expect either of those things.)

Last night I ended up finishing season 19 of Doctor Who with Time-Flight. Now I’d not watched it in awhile but I’ve heard that the story has a bad reputation. Honestly though, it’s not as bad as I expected. It’s a pretty good ep, despite some... odd things.

I’m glad the start covered a question I had after Earthshock, the fate of the people from the freighter that had escaped. The doctor picked them up and took them back to their time. Also the start had the grief over Adric, but that’s seemed to pass quickly. Good things were that it involved Concorde and it was amusing that they finally got to Heathrow... even though Tegan now was happy to stay. The main odd thing about it though was the master. Why was he disguised as Kalid? What was the point of that?

So that’s season 19 done. I’ll watch the time-flight special features tonight, then the special features disc. Next week I’ll be starting season 12.

After that I watched a Simpsons ep, one of the Halloween ones I’d not seen then I went to go zzz.

This morning I did some AC, then a little bit of uni. Apparently instead of an exam we’re gonna be sent an electronic version to do at home, complete with the same questions. We’ll see how that pans out.

I went to Home Bargains when we walked the pup and it was odd that they had a queue now. The times are strange. I only went in to get a few things, including cat food, but ended up spending more. Damnit. Ah well we should be stocked up for awhile now.

In the afternoon I watched Lilo and Stitch cause of my boy, and it was fun. I’ll have to watch the other Stitch films cause I’ve not seen them.

Now I’m gonna snuggle, watch Bake off, Inside Xbox, Time Flight special features and try and finish fic. (Watch as I don’t) This week I’m gonna try and read Black Spire and the Who magazine, as well as try and start the latest Dragon Prince season and watch more Clone Wars (and do Fallen Order).

Friday wasn’t too exciting, though I did get the Doctor Who magazine which I read a bit of (I might read more later). I did some of the group stuff though I’m sure it’s bad. Also while walking the pup I saw the frogspawn had hatched! There were lil tadpoles around! I tried to get pics yesterday but l alas, it wasn’t as sunny so they weren’t near the edge.

On the night I watched a film on Horror channel called afterdeath. The concept sounded interesting but it wasn’t too special, especially towards the end. Ah well, there was a cute guy in it, though he was a jerk.

Yesterday was, well not fun. It started ok. I snuggled in bed, went on AC (and got Julian to move in, yay!) and we took Naryu out, which ended up being a longer, more tiring walk, to avoid people.

The annoying thing was when mum had a call from her friend. She’d offered to take us to sainsburys on Monday again, but called yesterday to suggest we get a click and collect slot instead of going in. Now I’d been looking regularly and there wasn’t any. Some did come up last night but they weren’t till Thursday and then the sight crashed. It all made me so stressed, because i was prepared mentally to go Monday (on my own causa the distancing things and spending time in an overlong queue). The stress made me even more tired and just... blah. It’s sorted so we’re still going in the morning (8, which is still early for me but it’ll do).

Last night I ended up watching Earthshock since I’m wanting to finish up season 19 over the coming week to start season 12. Earthshock is a good ep, probably the best of the season, but also the saddest, because of Adric. He dies at the end of the episode, one of few companions to die. It also feels like a kind of... pointless death because what he’s trying to prevent is what’s supposed to happen. Of course neither he or we know that until the end, but still. It’s also notable for being a cyberman ep. Other than the second doctor’s era, cybermen episodes were rare with them appearing once per doctor (apart from the third Doctor). Here they’re trying to destroy earth to prevent a potential alliance against them. (Which makes me wonder if the alliance happened, because in Ascension the cybermen seem just focussed on humans.)

I’m gonna watch the special features tonight and then Time-Flight tomorrow.

After this post I’m gonna basically snuggle and rest cause of the early start tomorrow,

Now to end, some pics.

It’s strange how, even though we’re supposed to be on lockdown, just how many people are outside. I swear I’ve seen more people outside while we were walking the dog then we do in a week. There’s not just the usual dog walkers but people just walking or jogging (who runs for fun?!). It’s odd.

Speaking of the dog, it’s Naryu’s birthday tomorrow. I usually don’t remember animal birthdays but April fools day is a memorable date. She’s gonna be two. The little fuzz ball.

I’ve been listening to the new 5 seconds of summer album on Spotify lately and it’s really good, there’s quite a few songs on it that I love already and have been humming to myself.

Last night mum had a call from her library friend saying she had papers for us (to use for the guinea pig) and when mum picked them up today she’d also put in toilet paper which was nice of her since it’s nowhere. When mum rung to thank her she said she’d take us to get the shopping again, which is nice and is a weight off (literally since it means we won’t have to lug it all back).

On animal crossing my house has been expanded again and I’ve had Lucky on the campsite to invite him, but two of the plots I put down are being invaded by randoms, ugh. They were good places too. I might get rid of one cause I definitely don’t like her. I’ve been saving bugs on the beach for Flick to come so of course CJ comes today. I was unprepared with fish so I’ve been saving some today so I’ll be going on it multiple times to sell them.

His partner makes models of fish so I’ve given him football fish (which is really an angler fish) to make. The thing I love is that his partner is obviously Flick, which means we have a nintendo game (and one of the biggest ones) with a same sex couple! Woo!

I also got a tamborine on it today which made me think of Mikey.

My sleep patterns have been odd lately, I’ve drifted downstairs a few times and then headed up but being unable to sleep. It’s annoying, but it is what it is. I was gonna look into the group thing today but my sleep messed me up. The tutor says it doesn’t matter how much I do as long as it’s something so I might just do one article tomorrow. (It’s to do with reading articles and something?)

I have been ficcing but slowly. I started something a few days back intending it to be a quick short thing but it’s dragging. Hopefully my creativity will spark and I’ll get it finished soon.

The xbox magazine came yesterday and, apparently, it’ll be the last. Not that you’d tell by looking at it, it still had an ad for subscribers and a reference for the next issue, but twitter says it’s been shut down. It’s a shame really. But makes me glad I’m subscribed to the Who one now, which should be here tomorrow.

Last night I continued my Who run with Black Orchid. It’s an odd ep, partly because it’s only two parts (there were few two parts in old who, most were four or more) but also because there wasn’t any sci fi stuff in it other than the tardis crew. It’s basically a kind of murder mystery thing but it’s kinda unsatisfying. The end feels kinda rushed and it takes awhile at the start to get going and it feels... I dunno. The costumes are nice though and Sarah gets double duty as Nyssa and Ann and manages it pretty well. As the fifth doctor gets to play cricket. And awww Adric, stuffing his face most of the time but it’s cute. (And why let people into the tardis?)

Next one is Earthshock and I’m already sad cause I know how it ends. I dunno if I’ll speed through and watch it this week or if I’ll hold off on it till next week as planned. We’ll see.

I’ve got a load of tabs open of posts and fic I need to go through but alas. I’ll try later.

Now I’m gonna snuggle, ponder writing and, later, bake off. I’ll finish black orchid’s special features and, maybe, watch one of the other Who eps (day of the Doctor or Vincent and the Doctor, the two lockdown eps I’ve not rewatched yet). Or maybe I’ll watch the faceless ones. We’ll see.
shadowhive: (4th Doctor Jelly Baby)
So last night I watched The Visitation and I’m not sure if it was cause I was tired or what but I didn’t think it was the best. It had a few good parts, like the continuation at the start from Kinda and the Android looked pretty good.

It was another ep where they didn’t get Tegan back home. I know people thought the tardis was ‘crowded’ with three people so why not just drop her off like she wanted? Sigh. I’m gonna watch the special features tonight and then next week is Black Orchid.

I got really tired so I went up after the episode.

The country is now on lockdown. Which... it makes sense. I just hope that businesses heed the advice. If your job isn’t necessary (nhs staff, food and delivery workers etc) then you should be at home. The fact that some businesses are still making people go in pisses me off as does ones not wanting to pay people or give them sick leave. That’s fucking irresponsible. Like I said, we need UBI now.

This crisis is gonna lead to a shake up. There’s already talk of the points based immigration system being changed due to the realisation that ‘low skilled’ workers are actually essential. It’s a shame it’s took this to realise it but...

It seems uni is going forward with the group thing which seems a bit.... stupid. I hope concessions are made for people that are sick or having a hard time with it. I’m gonna look into it Thursday probably, after I’ve started the final book.

The new Who magazine is coming out next week and it’s all about season 14. I’m glad I’m subscribed cause I’m super looking forward to it. I need to read the xbox magazine about resident evil 3 (even though I won’t be getting it and still haven’t got 2. It’s in the games with gold sale but... I dunno)

Today we were gonna walk to sainsburys which meant getting a small shop, but before I came down mum had a call from her friend at work offering to take us which was... so good. It meant we could get a stock of things up. There were still empty shelves and not much frozen stuff, but we got fresh veg and such. I also got the faceless ones, which I’ll watch this week sometime I think.

I also went to boots to get my meds... but they were put there. So I’ve had to have them delivered but the charge is insane. £5 delivery! That’s absurd! But I need them, my anxiety is crazy.

Today is disney+ release day and I considered watching something but a: I was tired and 2: I’m waiting on my bf to send me their log in info.

I’m gonna snuggle and watch bake off and do some more animal crossing, which I’m still loving so much🖤

I’m sure I had something else to ramble about but my mind is blank now, so I’m gonna leave it there,
shadowhive: (Finn/Poe Need a pilot)
Anxiety levels are still pretty high which... ugh. It meant this morning I was unfocused and unwilling to even open the laptop up to do uni stuff.

Yesterday ended up not going as planned. I wrote, but only a tiny bit. I didn’t watch Clone Wars, because Animal Crossing reviews went live so I watched some of the video ones. It looks so pretty and I really need it. Apparently it’s gonna come by courier Friday so... I’ll be so glad when it’s here,

Last night I did end up continuing to watch the run of season 19. The ep was Kinda and, well, I dunno if it was the anxiety or the story itself but my brain was a bit hopeless with it at times.

There were good parts to it though. Hindle’s decent into madness was well played if a bit... unclear what caused it. And I really liked Todd who was the voice of reason in the dome. The cgi Mara was a vast improvement on the effect seen in the making of. I think it woulda been better if Tegan had been possessed for a bit longer, because once the Mara left her she just went back to sleeping until she was found again (and Nyssa being out of the whole thing was a bit odd).

Next week it’s The Visitation which is something I don’t recall at all.

Tonight I’ll finish off the special features after bake off.

I’m gonna watch Resistance in a few and then get back to finishing this fic.
shadowhive: (Cal Making Music)
Gonna do a post but it’s only gonna be short.

The last few days have been a bit blah. First on Monday my focus was all off so I didn’t even open the laptop to do uni stuff then yesterday food shop came early (9:30-10:30 was the only slot yesterday wtf and when I checked later all the slots had gone for today too) so I’ve not done what I was gonna do, ie uni stuff. I’ve done some today but my brain still feels like mush. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I considered getting Doritos from a Tesco on Monday but I was just so drained and then it rained anyway so...

On Monday I continued watching Who with Four To Doomsday. There’s not much to say really. It’s got a good ship model and sets and it’s got a decent enough story but I dunno. Adric being a dick just rubbed me the wrong way and then he sided with the bad guy. I managed to watch the special features on the disc right after so... yeah.

I wasn’t gonna fic till after uni was done but I ended up getting inspired while waiting on the food shop yesterday so... I did a Gerard/Grant which I posted yesterday. We’ll see if I do any other short stuff or anything from my list.

Today I’m gonna head to Wyrley to try and get the Lego Star Wars magazine since I meant to add it to the shop and didn’t like an idiot and then... probably just snuggle or read. I might watch more Clone Wars tonight but we’ll see. I might watch Avenue 5 or Lucifer instead.
shadowhive: (3rd Who's there?)
So we’ve arrived at March and, already, my anxiety levels have been pretty high which is... eh. Not a good sign probably, but at the same time I’m not surprised. I’ve been expecting it but still... eh

As long as I can make it till the 20th when Animal Crossing comes I’ll be ok,

I’m almost done with book 2 of uni, so of course there’s an assessment which... is also eh. Next week is assigned to do it so, hopefully I’ll be able to focus on it.

While my fandomtrumpshate thing got no bids it’s turned out that my fandomforoz one did. I checked it yesterday, expecting to see nothing and was surprised when I saw that someone had left a bid after all. So I guess we’ll see what happens from there. I’ve also had an email from fandomtrumpshate saying that the bid I made didn’t win but I’ve been offered it anyway. So I’m gonna see if I can settle on an idea before agreeing to it (other than a general Ray fic!) I’ve gotten until Sunday for my mind to settle.

Speaking of charity I ended up getting the humble bundle Doctor Who thing. I’m gonna bulk download everything when I go on my laptop next (probably next week for uni) and, hopefully, I’ll actually listen to the audios.

Speaking of Who, last night I started Doctor Who season 19 with Castrovalva. Unusually for most old Who, season 19 starts right where season 18 left off, so it’s good that I watched it two boxsets ago. At the end of season 18, the fourth Doctor fell and regenerated as a result. This takes off immediately after that and deals with the new doctor’s regeneration.

As an opening episode it’s pretty good. Everyone is given something to do and there’s a lot of character moments. Tegan flying the Tardis, and subsequently crashing it, and she gets a lot of nice moments with Tegan. The fifth Doctor is, to start with, trying to recover from his regeneration which gives him a few nice moments with him confused and impersonating past doctors. Adric is captured by the master so spends most of it restrained which is a good look for him, though he still got nice moments with the others.

Castrovalva doesn’t appear until quite late and the recursion reminded me of what happened in the recent Haunting episode. Maybe it was an inspiration?

It was a pretty good ep and after it I watched the making of. It was clearly a new one and featured the cast on some of the locations like the curse of Fenric making of so it was pretty fun. It was also presented by the guy that plays Turlough in later seasons which was nice.

Tonight I’m gonna watch the rest of the special features and snuggle.

Today has been a tad annoying. My focus was off this morning and I dozed again, but at least I did some uni reading. When I came down, though, mum had decided to do off the table so instead of walking Naryu then I had to put everything back on which... ugh I was not in the mood for and now my back is achy. Plus some bits are awol which is annoying. Then when we walked Naryu it started to rain so we came right back.

Plus Midna was just hacking. Has she got a hairball or is she being sick? I dunno cause she ran off. I hope she’s ok.

I’m gonna recharge a bit then finish my Waycest fic.
