shadowhive: (Steve His slutty lil outfit)

So this is gonna be one of those rambly posts about watching stuff. First, Wednesday which I watched Sunday (specifically the ep Woe Thyself).

The ep is mostly centered around on a freaky Friday body swap of Enid and Wednesday, with the first part of it being ‘how we got here’ then dealing with the swap itself. Body swaps like this can be fun and this was, with both Jenna and Emma doing a great job of playing each other in their bodies. This did mean that the now Enid knows why Wednesday has kept her at arms length (thank fuck) and now we know Enid’s boyfriend is a jerk. Also I’m sure Enid being called and alpha will have triggered something in fandom, I’d be surprised if it hasn’t

I still think having Weems back as Wednesday’s spirit guide is genius.

I’m glad we finally know who ‘slurp’ is. Though ugh if they hadn’t messed with his machine he, Francoise and Tyler would no doubt be gone. Now they have reason to get revenge.

(Though damn I’m sad about the teacher played by Christopher Lloyd dying)

Second is Frankenstein which I finally saw yesterday, yipee!

Before getting into that the trailers:
The Bride! - This felt appropriate since the titular bride is a bride for Frankenstein’s creature. It looks like one of those films that could either be fun or terrible and I’m not sure which it’ll be.
Silent Night Deadly Night - I saw this before for Black Phone 2 and my thoughts of it are mostly eh. It’s something I might see if it’s on tv or streaming but I don’t feel I’ll see it
The Housemaid - gotta admit I’m kinda curious about this one, even though I can’t tell the tone exactly from they trailer, but it has Amanda Seyfried from Mamma Mia in (and apparently it’s based on a book)
Wake Up Dead Man - The next follow up to Knives Out and it looks pretty good, I love a murder mystery. I really need to watch Glass Onion before it’s out though. (I do feel bad that it’s called ‘a knives out mystery’ instead of a Benoit Blanc one though)

You ever walk out of a film and have trouble coming up with the right words for what you just saw? That was me yesterday after seeing Frankenstein. Most of the time I have that feeling in a negative way when I see something but that’s not the case here. So I’m gonna try and put some things into words now.

First off you can tell that the whole thing was made with love. The sets were amazing, especially the building they had for Frankenstein’s lab, I mentally went ‘now that’s a tower’ when I saw it. And the outfits were incredible too(the one that’s stuck with me is the bright red one Frankenstein’s mother wore at the start of the film). Kudos to everyone involved in making everything, you all did such an incredible job.

Likewise with the performances, everyone was really great, I’d say especially for Frankenstein and his creature. (Which yeah, is definitely necessary cause virtually every scene has one or the other or both) And all the supporting cast were too.

Like I said though it’s hard to put into words my thoughts, like it was incredible (though not a fan of all the animals dying in the last part though).

Honestly I’m so glad I saw it and I’m glad I saw it on its own not with anything else like I almost did. It feels like it was meant to be seen in the big screen so I’m glad that Netflix gave it that chance (and is doing that for more things too!) I’d say if you haven’t seen it go and see it, my local cinema has it for another week at least.

(And it’s looking like I have to go to the cinema Wednesday morning for Shelby Oaks before it leaves)

Lastly, and even more finally, is the last ep of Stranger Things.

So I last saw Stranger Things in *checks* May. And since then I’ve meant to watch the season finale but have kept putting it off. I think in part it’s due to how long it is, but also cause I knew Eddie dies. But cause of the final season coming (and hopefully going to the cafe next week) I decided it was time. Though why after seeing something as long as Frankenstein I’m not sure.

I was curious how things would play out because you had three groups but they were so spread out there’s no way you could have bought them together for the finale. Wisely they didn’t try to speedrun getting everyone together and had Eleven use a tank to fight Vecna to help the Hawkins group which was the main focus.

But damn, I knew I’d be mad/sad about Eddie dying and I really am. (And yeah he got that awesome moment drawing the demobats with his guitar which was so cool) but what got me is at the end is and people still playing everything on him and then that see with Dustin and his uncle. Like damn that’s just so sad it made me almost tear up.

And Max too what the hell?

(I’m glad that sportsball guy got bisected like that he was an absolute ass the whole time and who let this guy have a gun?)

Other things
*Steve getting choked by the tentacle/vine was so…
*I love that the other surfer boy was called Argyle 2.0 in the credits (and I love Argyle he’s so silly)
*Not a fan of the Steve Nancy thing like ugh
*The scene with Jonathan and Will was so sweet
*I have so many questions about the Upside Down/Mind Flayer/Vecna
*And ha! The Russians letting their own specimens out which went as badly as you’d expect for them

(I’m sure I had other thoughts but those are the main ones that come to mind)

It’s also insane that it ended like that and then it’s took three whole years to get to season 5. It’s insane that seasons just have massive gaps like that and something like this should really not have that. (Like there’s gotta be a time skip right out of necessity?)

I'm so glad you finally got to see Frankenstein, and that it was everything you wanted.
