It’s almost spooky time
Sep. 8th, 2025 12:29 pmSo it’s one of those mornings where I have this weird/manic kinda energy so here’s another post I mentioned doing, spooky season plans.
My intent with this is to have stuff done over spooky season, which includes but is but limited to October (so it might start before September ends and go through most of November).
Blu ray
Clown In A Cornfield ?
Doctor Who Season 13 +
Event Horizon+
Five Nights At Freddy’s ?
Life Force
Noroi +
(And maybe something else from J-Horror rising)
Ring (alone or as trilogy)+
Saw X+
Spiral+
Trick R Treat+
Welcome To Racoon City+
First is blu rays (well, Trick R Treat is 4k but…). All of these thus far are things I’ve seen before, with some I’ve just not watched the blu rays of (looking at you Life Force and Saw X). Trick R Treat is the annual Halloween film whereas others (like Welcome To Racoon City and Event Horizon) are just ones I’ve wanted to rewatch
As you note there are three with ?’s by them. For Clown it’s cause it’s not out yet, it comes out next week here and while I do want it I might wait and see if we get the fancy steelbook that the US has (it has magnets!). Doctor Who is here cause this season has a lot of horror stuff, but it’s alas it’s not got a release date so I dunno if it’ll be here by then (I guess the new Who magazine will date it). Five Nights At Freddy’s is a ? Cause I might save the watch closer to the new film (which is December? Which feels like odd timing)
Disney+
Agatha All Along rewatch (maybe, maybe with Wandavision beforehand)+
American Horror Stories
Hocus Pocus (and maybe 2)+
Nightmare Before Christmas+
Werewolf By Night+
These are a mix of things that I always watch around Halloween (Hocus Pocus and Nightmare), things I wanna rewatch (Agatha and Werewolf) and American Horror Stories which feels a good fit for this cause it’s an anthology. (Though I do hope to get back to American Horror Story). Agatha is probably the one that I won’t start, but we’ll see.
Disney+ also have a Halloween section in October, which has Halloween specials and stuff so I’ll probably watch some of them (especially treehouse of horror) as they’re short and light hearted.
Netflix
Creep + Creep 2
Fear Street Prom
Slasher Series 1
Wednesday season 2 (unless watch is finished before then)
The rest of the streaming ones, starting with Netflix, are thinner on the ground organisation wise.mostly because I add things to lists and they’re long and I’ve not been through them, so expect these sections to get added to as/when I do them.
So right now there’s just the new Fear Street, which I have meant to watch and it’s kept slipping out of my mind (until I was reminded of it last night!). With season 2 of Wednesday I watched an ep a week, which will mean half of season 2 will fall in October.
I might also finally watch the Stranger Things finale, but it’s only not listed cause I might do it this month.
Prime
Heretic
Prime has nothing so far but something will be here soon. I keep adding horror/spooky stuff to it whenever I see it when I turn the tv on, but I’ve not gone through it to look for any good ones (and half the time when I do they’re gone). So I’ll have to go through the list and add at least a few things.
And oh as I said that I remembered Heretic is on there so… there’s something.
Shudder
Terrifier
VHS Halloween
(Maybe other vhs’)
See the above things, that applies for Shudder. I know there’s some stuff on my list that I have been meaning to watch and will use this as an excuse, I just need to sort through it.
However! There is a new VHS, with VHS Halloween and I am excited for that, so that’s one of the things that’s definitely on there and I will be watching it release night.
Books
Halloween Party
I Want That Twink Obliterated
Shredded
The Well
Halloween Party isn’t a spooky season thing, but it IS set at Halloween and I’ve held off reading it as a result. However that can be read early November (cause the investigation would be then). Shredded and Twink are both short story collections so I should be able to read a few. The Well is the adaption of the Who ep of the same name and I’m adding it in the hopes I will read it cause I did love the ep. (But again that finale…)
Cinema Films
Light’s rewind
2nd - Curse Of Frankenstein
2nd - Donnie Darko
3rd - The Exorcist (director’s cut)
10th - A Nightmare On Elm Street
17th - It Follows
18th - Constantine
24th - Halloween
31st (and others) - Hocus Pocus
31st - Scream
31st - The Thing
This is the (at time of writing), current list of films the cinema has for its rewind slot. Two more have got added since I mentioned them doing this (Constantine and Hocus Pocus). Im not gonna see them all, maybe a handful. Curse Of Frankenstein is the only definite one and I would love to see Scream too. Constantine is a strong maybe but if the 17th is crazy I might not have the energy for it. The Exorcist and Nightmare On Elm Street are both horror gaps but do I want seeing them first time to be in the cinema? I dunno.
General releases
Him
Good Boy
Frankenstein (one day only)
The Black Phone 2
Shelby Oaks
As for new releases the release schedule isn’t up. As such The Black Phone 2 is the only film with a uk date confirmed (though Him is apparently an October release for us). I’ve not seen any cinema confirm Frankenstein either and it depends on times.
Maybe when I go today/later in the month they’ll have something with October releases in which cause I will update this.
Addition:
Good Boy just got added to the coming soon, so I might see that but it depends (like everyone I need to know if the dog lives). There’s also a mystery horror film on the 6th that might be Black Phone 2? And Shelby Oaks is apparently getting a uk release on Halloween for us but it’s not on the coming soon yet.
Games
Dead By Daylight
Dead By Daylight is on it’s on right now cause it’s one of those games that do events for Halloween. Any other games like that will also be added here. (Fortnite does one too usually)
Story games
Alan Wake II (started)
Control
Resident Evil 4 remake (started)
Sherlock Holmes The Awakening
Song Of Horror (started)
These are a bunch of horror/horror adjacent games that I’ve got on my list but never actually got round to playing/finishing. My intent is to pick one, play through it and then pick another when I’ve done. Because I feel they’re pretty long I’ll probably only realistically do one (though Song Of Horror is probably shorter) but we’ll see.
In person stuff
Horror film festival
Lastly there’s the Birmingham Horror Film Festival which is October 11th and 12th. As of yet it’s a maybe, cause there’s not much info confirmed yet. It does seem from their Facebook that info might be forthcoming soon so once there’s details I can decide if it’s worth attending. But it could be a fun time.
Addition:
There’s also a scare maze in town that I might see, depending on dates and times and everything.
I also might go on iplayer and watch some of the spooky Doctor Who eps (like Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit which I’ve wanted to rewatch for awhile). I also might try and, finally, watch the Interview With The Vampire series, but I dunno if it’s still on there.
Feel free to leave recs/thoughts on your Halloween plans. As mentioned I do intended to edit/update this as and when things come up/get confirmed too. (And when I sort through lists and stuff)
There should be another proper post tonight if I head out to town to the cinema.
