I hope that everyone had a nice Christmas/holidays/past few days.

Christmas for me was pretty restful, in the morning we opened presents and there were no real surprises. I got Animal Crossing monopoly, a Who audio boxset and some Lego Star Wars. I ended up listening to the first audio when we came back and it was pretty spooky, which I loved. Though at the same time it also got me in the feels because it had Wilf in it (and in a big role too!).

(A slight diversion but on Christmas Eve I also watched the new ghost story for Christmas which was called Lot 409 and was spooky as well, involving a mummy and a hot guy, who I definitely got šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆvibes from. But anyway!)

The rest of Christmas was mostly spent watching bbc 1, so I watched two very christmasy films: The Addams Family 2 and Toy Story 4. They’re certainly… unusual choices for Christmas but they were entertaining enough and Toy Story 4 felt better on my second watch of it. Addams Family 2 was new to me and I thought it was pretty fun, even though some of the reveals were so obvious.

I started building one of the Lego sets I got, the spider tank from The Mandalorian and I did the first two bags then (making the body), the third yesterday (making the legs) and the last bag today (making the claws, head and parts of the top). It looks pretty cool and I love there’s finally a new darksaber piece but alas, mum caught the bag yesterday and one piece has gone missing, so one leg isn’t attached. I’ve sent off for a replacement though so it should be ok.

I also watched Jago’s Christmas stream and I had a mini jumpscare when he said my name as he saw op my tweet reply to him. But it was sweet.

I then started another audio of the Paternoster Gang which was such a good finale to the third boxset, though I split it between then and yesterday cause I went tired.

Yesterday I watched The Muppet Christmas Carol (forever a classic! Though it was a later watch this year) then the newer Lion King since it was on tv. It was ok, but it felt a bit… unnecessary? I think it improved once Timon and Pumbaa showed up, though it was still… odd. Last night I watched Death In Paradise too which was pretty good as always. I love Neville’s mum and hope she comes back.

Today my head was a bit fuzzy, but once it eased up a bit I watched Last Christmas on iplayer which was… ok but it did give me feels. (I mostly watched for Michelle Yeoh). Then I put on Emperor’s New Grove cause it’s always fun.

I’ve also done a little Baldur’s Gate 3 these past days and I finished the dank crypt though damn combat is still pretty tricky. I guess it’ll be easier once we’ve levelled up and have more health cause we keep dying.

Lastly, thoughts on the Doctor Who Christmas special (put last so people can avoid it). But before getting to them properly was sad to hear that Richard Franklin, who played Mike Yates in third doctor’s eps, has sadly passed away. That was so sad to hear.

The Church On Ruby Road was this years special and had a lot to do and I think it succeeded for the most part. It’s mostly an intro to the new companion of Ruby Sunday which it does pretty well. It shows her life, her adopted family and also gives something that will clearly be a main plot thread for her: who is her mother and why was she left at the titular church? That was something I thought might get answered by the end of the episode but it wasn’t. I suspect it’ll end up being a plot point for the series, with the trying to get back to that point to get answers but being unable to.

It was also a surprise that it started with Ruby being interviewed by Davina. I’d expected her to be a new character, but playing herself like that probably made the most sense. And it did layout some info on Ruby early on. And her being plagued with bad luck after that meeting was amusing (and led to a meme on twitter ā€˜and Davina McCall who did NOT die!’ Which was funny).

Damn I love 15 already, he’s clearly having such a good time and I love his new gloves and how strange his new sonic looks, as well as his reactions to the goblins. In fact I’d say the only bad thing about 15 is that we have to wait until May to see him again!)

Onto the goblins, I liked the idea of their ship and the song was fun but they felt a bit… I dunno. It feels they’re vague, though I think that was intentional. It feels like the goblins are new, being things that came in the same way as the toymaker. It makes you wonder what else did too?

Lastly there is Mrs Flood, Ruby’s neighbour, who ends the ep saying ā€˜have you never seen a Tardis before’ which is a very odd thing to say and will surely be a thing that comes up again. People have speculated who she could be to know what a tardis is, but I think she’s gonna be a new person entirely.

Then there was a trailer, which alas says the series is in May, but I’m already excite because all the eps sound so great already. There’s
*An ep in an abandoned spaceship/space station with some sort of creature
*Something with giant bug things
*A UNIT ep (with Rose Noble!)
*A regency (?) ep with the Doctor dancing with a hot man
*an ep with the Beatles (the band, not the aforementioned giant insects)

All of them look so cool and I wanna see them all!
