AMA 7 and 10
Apr. 10th, 2023 12:04 amSo it’s just after midnight and here’s two AMA (I expected to do this in the morning but my heads a bit fuzzy and I hope this will distract some). The first is from
yarnofariadne and the second is from
turlough
7: What's the story behind your dearest possession?
So ever since I got this question in the AMA post my mind puzzled over what my dearest possession was. It’s been close to a month since getting it and I can honestly say I’m not exactly sure what my dearest possession actually is which makes this hard to answer.
So I had a look around my surroundings and tried to figure out with anything I could see would count, or come close to something I could use.
And my eyes landed on something on the other sofa across from me so I figure that would do.
When I was smol I had a bear called Mr Ted (yeah it’s a simple name I know). I don’t know when I got him, but I think mum said it was when I was in hospital (as a baby I had meningitis so I was in hospital for awhile). Anyway wherever he came from he became a fixture. I would carry him everywhere, mum and Nan knit him a few different outfits (and one is covered in pin badges I used to get). Whenever we would go on holiday I would insist on bringing him too, often sneaking him into my bag when they thought I hadn’t. He’s a very well travelled bear! He’s been to Cyprus and Florida and Paris and I’m sure there’s other places I’m not thinking of.
Eventually I kinda outgrew him. But he’s still here, currently on the other sofa with a bunch of other plushies and bears.
Huh that ended up being a pretty good thing after all. I’ll have to give him a hug before I head up, but Midna is on me now.
10: What place have you always dreamed of visiting and why?
So I’m gonna divide this into three parts.
The first is places that I’ve been and would like to go to again. I’d like to go to Scotland or Wales again. Both are so green, so majestic. They’re so beautiful. I’d love to go to the sea again. I miss the sea, we used to go on trips from the village almost every year, but a year or two before covid the lady that organised them died and no one took over. It’s a shame cause such trips were nice, even though I was often the youngest there.
And I’d love to go back to Cyprus, it’s so pretty there (and again, sea) and it was on tv awhile ago so it made me nostalgic. We went a few times as a family when it was the four of us (me, mum and my grandparents) and we went once just us, but we’ve not been since they passed. (In fact we’ve not been anywhere outside the country since then)
The second part is there has been places I’ve always wanted to go. I’ve always wanted to go to Japan, because I’m a nerdy and it looks so pretty and there’s all kinds of Pokémon and stuff, though I think the crowds would get to me a bit. Mum always wanted to go to Australia and I’d like to take her someday, to see koalas and the great barrier reef. I’d also like to go places and visit some of the people I know. And I’m sure there’s specific places that I’d like to go that I’ve forgotten.
However, if you said to me right now ‘where would you go, all expenses paid’ I know what my answer would be and it’s somewhere I hope hope hope I go to someday. (Even though I’d need an absurd amount of money)
I’d want to go to Galaxy’s Edge.
Now some of you maybe wondering what that actually is. Well a few years ago Disney decided to make a dedicated Star Wars space at their parks, called Galaxy’s Edge (it’s at Orlando and Hollywood, given the climate I’d say Hollywood would be my choice). It looks absolutely amazing, you get to live and breathe Star Wars there. There’s an immersive ride, you can fly the Falcon, there’s a cantina, there’s things you can get that you can’t get anywhere else. You can even build your own lightsaber! Which yeah isn’t a huge draw for me but it still sounds so enticing.
And then they added something called the Galactic Starcruiser, where you spend two days on a ‘space ship’ and essentially it’s a huge role play experience. Since it’s pretty new I don’t know much about it, but it all sounds so incredible.
I’d love to do it someday, but I also know (short of winning the lottery which I don’t really play) that it’s one of those impossible dreams so the closest I’ll likely get is on the sims version of it. But it’s a dream right?
And now I’m gonna go back to the Star Wars stream, which has a panel on…. Exactly that and I’m gonna stare longingly at the whole experience.

Date: 2023-04-10 08:12 am (UTC)All the places you want to go are good choices. Everyone I know who's been to Galaxy's Edge has said it's breathtaking, so much fun and so cool.

Date: 2023-04-10 11:10 am (UTC)I really want to go back to Galaxy's Edge, I went to the one in Anaheim in 2019, was supposed to have been going to Orlando in 2021, I'd hoped to go to the new immersive hotel for my 40th but it obviously didn't happen and having seen the prices, probably never will. But it's legit amazing so I really hope you do get to go at some point1

Date: 2023-04-11 03:41 pm (UTC)I'm not a huge Star Wars fan like you, but I'd love to visit Galaxy's Edge. I have a fascination with the Disney parks, so much so that I sometimes lurk on the forums to read trip reports, even though I know I'll never be able to afford to go.

Date: 2023-04-13 08:15 pm (UTC)I too would love to go back to both Scotland and Wales. As you say they're both so green and beautiful and majestic! I've never been to Cyprus or anywhere in the Mediterranean but I would like to visit it one day. I've been to Japan once and would love to go back. Mostly for the gardens and historical buildings.
I'd not heard of Galazy's Edge before, it sounds fabulous!! I would absolutely love to visit!
