shadowhiveSo I watched the first ep of season 3 of Picard, thoughts ahoy.
First off I’m still so puzzled that Amazon prime in the uk gets it a full day after America. Apparently it’s also on the us amazon prime which got it Thursday so I don’t get why we don’t. It’s just odd.
The opening scenes in space just looked so pretty, before settling on Crusher’s ship and showing her be a badass, before sending a message to Picard.
…a message that he seemingly ignores. She expressly tells him to not involve starfleet so what does he do? Go straight to Riker. And then what do they do? Divert a starfleet ship to take them where they go to meet her. Clearly she didn’t want starfleet involved for a reason and for them to do that (instead of say charting a vessel) is beyond me.
But it was nice to see Laris was still around. I do like her and hope she returns.
But ugh, Captain Shaw? I hate him already. He comes off as such an ass and the way he talks down to Seven… I wished she’d gone with them. There’s still time for her to do that! *crosses fingers*
This first ep has clearly set up some questions that will no doubt be answered over the course of the season.
*Why did Crusher just suddenly leave starfleet and cut off contact? (And why doesn’t she want starfleet involved now?)
*How much of Raffi’s story to the Orion is a lie and how much is true?
*Who is her handler? The fact they contact her like that kinda makes sense but also seems suspicious
*who has stolen this technology? Is Raffi the only person sent to find it? Is whoever took it the main big bad or someone else?
*Is Elnor safe? Is he alright?
*What’s with Riker’s comment about Deanna?
*Who is hunting Crusher and why? Or are they after her son?
,*Who is Crusher’s son? Who is his dad! I’m sure we’re meant to think he’s Picard’s but that seems so unlikely. (Because if he is, why would she not tell him?)
It all raises so many questions and, I hope, unlike the last season, the answers are good ones.
It ends with a dedication to Annie which is sweet, but also sad. (She was the Borg queen last season who recently passed)
