What a reckoning sounds like
Sep. 21st, 2022 11:53 pmI've been feeling pretty rough today, and yesterday too. the annoying thing is it's hard to tell if it's just general ehness, the stress from the pad or if I caught something.
I'd hoped the pad might have come today so i could get things sorted but alas, no. I'm also worried i may have to take the old one in somewhere if the lead with the pad doesn't get it going, which is an expense I'd hoped to avoid but feels like it'll be inevitable. Ugh.
Mum also had one of her random sudden falls while we walked the pup earlier. Thankfully it was on grass and there was a guy that helped too (with a cute puppy that looked like Naryu only with a tummy stripe). She seemed to be alright, but I do think it knocked her about more than she thought.
Today was the first eps of Andor and I ended up watching them all despite feeling bleh. Thoughts under the cut.
First off I'm really glad the first three eps came out all at once. I think I'd have felt disappointed if the first ep was all we'd gotten. This is largely because it starts off kinda slow, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it definitely took the three eps to get really going I think.
I love Cassian's droid, it's so cute and definitely has a lot of personality (and its name being B2-EMO). I'd also wondered, especially since I watched Rogue One on Monday, if they would include planet names which they did (along with unexpectedly giving a date of 5BBY, which seems a bit odd but I'll take it).
From the clip from the Andor special thing (from Disney+ day) I'd assumed that those guys after Cassian were after him because of the thing he stole. Turns out they were instead after him because, he killed two asshole cops. (Cue ACAB thoughts here.) The Inspector that ends up going after Cassian is doing so not out of loyalty to the cops but out of a sense of justice. His dedication to finding the person that did it would be admirable if they hadn't been assholes in the first place.
It's interesting that him and said 'cops' aren't part of the Empire per se, but they're corporate security which is noted as being a 'first line of defence'. Is that only for this region or is that true of the larger Empire?
One surprising thing was these eps (and perhaps the series in general) has flashbacks to Cassian as a kid growing up with his sister on a world that has seemingly had some sort of mining accident (or rather, I suspect 'accident'). One of his motivations is trying to find his sister, but it's unclear so far if she's actually alive or he's just hoping. I suspect that'll come up further.
I also suspect this isn't the last time we see Fennix, the planet where he's currently been living with his surrogate mother (though is that an appropriate term? she essentially kidnapped him.... though it may have saved his life). I sense there's gonna be an aftermath there because of what Cassian and the Inspector did.
I'm sure I had more thoughts, but my head is feeling kinda fuzzy so I'll pretty much leave it there.
I'm curious how the series will go. I'm especially looking forward to seeing Mon Mothma and the senate on Coruscant (I have so many questions that I suspect this series may answer).
On other things the Doctor Who twitter has started posting pics, so I sense the trailer is inbound (my bet is before Strictly but which one?). One thing that interests me is the return of the CyberMasters. When I'd seen a pic in the Who magazine when I flicked through it I'd just assumed it was from Timeless Children, but when I read it yesterday I realised it was about them appearing in the new ep. I'm definitely glad that some of them are back, because the design is so cool but it definitely seems like the ep is gonna be packed full of stuff. Hopefully it's gonna be able to tie them up well. Hopefully.
I'm thinking of rewatching the new Master eps beforehand cause it feels useful to, but we'll see.
I need to get started on spooky season stuff, but I've not felt up to doing too much lately. Hopefully soon, anyone got spooky recs for Amazon prime, Disney+ or Netflix uk? (Annoyingly the latter doesn't have Mobius, boo!)
For now I'm gonna watch Eret's stream and then head up to bed.

Date: 2022-09-22 08:59 am (UTC)Ohh I'll have to look those up. I've only seen two of those (I watched the Fear Street ones last year and Woman In Black, assuming it's the newer one, awhile back when it was on tv)
