About twenty minutes from home there's this open moorland common land that's part owned by the MoD (so sometimes they close bits of it for live fire practice!). But it's all heather and woodland, and it's filled with sheep and cows (sometimes) and a shitload of wildlife, because it's huge - we walked five miles yesterday and didn't cover the whole thing). The dogs love it because it has ALL THE SNIFFS, so paying attention there is really hard work for them.
It has adders, so we don't walk there often in adder season, but this time of year, it's great (especially when it's been dry like recently so it's not just a mudfest)
