Spooky scary skeletons

shadowhiveSo yesterday ended up being both productive and tiring.
I watched four films: Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, The Ring and Trick R Treat. The former two were on Disney+ while the latter two were on film4 and dvd respectively.
In the end I didn’t sort out my pumpkin, so that’s still sitting in the kitchen intact. But I did end up doing a skeleton biscuit kit I’d got when I last went to town. (And yeah I listened to Skeleton while making them.)

They’re quite small so I dunno how they expected people to get the details they had on the box, but hey we got more than the 10 it said it would make
After Hocus Pocus there was the first episode of the new Doctor Who series, entitled Chapter 1: The Halloween Apocalypse. Thoughts under another cut.
Being the first chapter of a multi part arc I wasn’t entirely sure what it would be. Would it be fairly self contained, or would it be setting up the whole arc? It turned out to be the latter and, as such it’s a little hard to judge it on it’s own.
A bunch of threads are set up in this episode.
*Yaz and the Doctor going after Karvanista
*A guy centuries ago in charge of a mine which seems to be mining…. Something
*Dan being introduced and taken by Karvanista
*The Swarm escaping from prison…. Who apparently the Doctor encountered in the Division days (does this mean we might see the fugitive Doctor in a flashback)
*A couple in the Arctic circle
*Vindor on a monitoring station, seeing the Flux destroy planets
*A weeping angel sending someone called Claire back in time (who apparently encounters the Doctor there)
*Sontarans readying for war
As such it was a busy episode and a lot of things were being set up, as such there’s more questions than answers. The mine, for example, appears after the opening credits for a few minutes and then isn’t shown or mentioned again until a brief flash at the end.
Karvanista is part of a race coming to earth to protect humans from the flux, with the implication it’s their duty to protect humans in times of crisis (so where were they before?) and Dan is his assigned human. But that’s not why the Doctor’s been after him, because she’s found out he was involved with the Division somehow.
The swarm has been imprisoned since ‘the beginning of time’ but it seemed pretty easy for him to escape. Is he the cause of the flux or is he just able to use the opportunity it’s creating to escape? And why was his sister hidden on Earth? Was she in some kind of protection thing?
Next week is titled War Of The Sontarans, so we can assume it’s gonna focus on the sontaran part of what’s been set up though chances are other threads will be weaved into it
After that there was the other two films, though i watched Sapnap's stream in between. the pics of him and Dream are so cute, especially the ones with patches
There was the Badflower livestream last night and, ugh it was so late. The stream went live at 2:30 and the gig started closer to 3, lasting till around 4. It was a pretty good show, though you could tell it was smaller scale than some of the other ones I’ve seen. (And I wished I’d heard their earlier stuff some more). Before it started I mused that, because it was Halloween they should dress up as Emoflower from the Don’t Hate Me video and you know what? They did! Well at least Josh and Antony, Alex didn’t stay still enough to get a good look at (which was pretty cute) and Joey was mostly a curtain of curls whenever the camera went to him.
Alas Josh lost the emo wig and his vest went he went into the crowd so the second half of the gig he was shirtless, which is always good. It made me wanna hug him though, listening to the lyrics and just. 🥺
Because it was so late though I’ve been so tired and a bit headaches today which is a bit… ugh. I’m hoping tonight will be an earlier night though.
Set It Off said there’d be something today and that seems to be us tour dates over a new song alas. I still need to get my ticket to the Birmingham date.
I did have a lil doze early too, and when I woke up there was a trailer for the new Boba Fett series and it looks like it’s gonna be cool so far. I’m glad that Fennec seems like she’s gonna be the joint main character.
I’m gonna have a snug now before noms in a bit.
