Sep. 27th, 2022 07:59 pmLast night continued Spooky season with the two Twilight Zone eps that were on to, specifically Among The Untrodden and 8. Of the two the latter qualifies as the most spooky.
Untrodden’s opening narration struck a chord ’High school. It's a period that, for most of us, already feels like a waking nightmare, one in which we're lost in a maze, searching for ourselves.’ Most of it felt… familiar. I know that I’ve seen this story before (High school girl discovers she has powers and then makes use of them against classmates), but the twist and the end was something I’d not expected.
8, by contrast, was about a team at an Antarctic research station discover a new, intelligent creature that, of course, goes on a rampage. I think it could have used a few extra minutes to cover some of the characters motivations (and the end felt a bit abrupt) and they could have used something more… exotic than an octopus (though it was pretty scary). I did love the automatic translator concept though, that was pretty cool.
Today seemed like it was gonna be a wet day, but it only rained briefly. Alas I got caught in the second one but it was brief.
The morning was spent at the library, which wasn’t too exciting (though mum took Naryu with us). I did read some stuff I took with me, namely the Great Jedi Rescue and Collapser. The former was a picture book, which covered the events of the early high republic books (useful as a refresher!) and the latter was Mikey’s comic. I’d read the first issues, but not the last one cause I had trouble finding it. It was pretty good and I really felt for Liam. I don’t think Mikey’s done anymore right? That’s a bit of shame.
This afternoon I was able to pop down and drop my pad off to get checked out. They said it could be caused by one of three things: the charger port, battery or logic board and they’d find out which one it was. Thankfully replacing each of them costs the same, so hopefully they can sort it and it’s just one. Hopefully I’ll hear back from them soon.
Dunno what I’m gonna do tonight after Bake Off, it’ll depend how I feel.
Tomorrow is the new Andor ep, which I’m now more excited cause there’s confirmation Mon Mothma is in it which means there’s likely gonna be Coruscant and the senate yes!
