Sunshine Challenge 2022 - Moonstone
Jul. 10th, 2022 12:08 pm Prompt 3: Moonstone
Prized for its blue to white adularescence—a billowy, moonlight-like sheen—Moonstone has been closely associated with the Moon. The ancient Romans believed it was frozen moonlight, a gift from the goddess, Luna. Therefore, some consider it an alternative birthstone for those born on Monday, the “Moon’s day”. Due to this lunar association, as well as its calming influence, this gem is considered an excellent aid for those with trouble sleeping. Moonstone is a stone of inner growth and strength; it soothes emotional instability and stress and stabilizes the emotions, providing calmness. Because of all this, Moonstone is often associated with wisdom and dreams.
So I’ve not done the second sunshine prompt, cause my brain has been blah, but I saw the third one is moonstone and it reminded me of a story.
So I do uni with the open university, which is a distance learning university. In essence it means I’m doing all the stuff at home. Sometimes there’s in person tutorial things, but not very often (in large part due to how spread out things can be). Usually the only time you see others from the course is when there’s an exam, but even then there’s people from various courses doing exams at the same time.
Of course when the pandemic happens so did (thankfully) exams and instead there were assessments instead.
Anyway. So as I was going to one of these exams, I passed one of those spiritual stores and I popped inside. I always like looking at places like that which have have stones, even though I rarely get any. However for some reason I became transfixed on a moonstone. It was small, not much bigger than a fingernail and I ended up getting it. I took it to my exam, which I passed, and I ended up considering it a kind of lucky charm and I kept it with me a lot.
Unfortunately I’m not sure where it has got to. I found it awhile back in a pocket of one of my hoodies and put it somewhere safe, which of course means said safe place is so safe I don’t even know where it is. I hope to find it again.

The last few days have mostly been tiring. Depression has been annoying and I’ve had a restless few nights. Plus my mums friend came tomorrow, wanted something ordering, so I had to go to town.
Going to town was annoying. The bus was late so I missed being able to pay the money in, plus it was warm and annoying there. There was some good points though. I got the doctor who chronicles magazine I’d been hoping for (1967, so it’s all about the second doctor), I got some necklaces from a fete (including a crystal one I’m wearing now) and game has some discounted Star Wars black series figures (Season 2 Greef, sith jet trooper and knight of ren).
I ended up watching a thing about Roswell which was a bit dry, although there was a double bluff. There was a guy that commented on the autopsy video and said how many things were period accurate in it…. Only then to turn around and reveal he was actually the person that made it.
Later in the night was Download on sky arts (which I think is kinda odd but…). I thought it’s be a two hour thing, but it was actually 3 instead so it was a bit draining. And, as it was highlights it was a mix of people. I had hoped for Black Veil Brides or Funeral For A Friend, but neither were there (though a brief clip of BVB in the studio means they must be in the second part tonight). Biffy Clyro were pretty good, and did Mountains, and Wargasm put on a pretty good performance too.
I watched some of Tommy’s love or host last night, which was less cringe than I expected, but I think that was largely because Ranboo was playing to win (damnit Tommy why did you eliminate him).
I did do some reading of my lesser known monsters on Friday, reading the first two parts of the little book of lesser known monsters and I love the concept of the thing in the second story. I’ve hoped to read more but been too tired. But at least I did some, which was on of the three main things I meant to do. I was gonna try and watch TUA this afternoon, but the Mummy Returns is on so I’m gonna watch that instead. And then there’s download part 2 later
This week I wanna do those things, plus there’s the new Resident Evil tv series on Netflix which I’m… cautiously optimistic about? (Although why do Resident Evil adaptions seem to make the t-virus an apocalypse is beyond me.) and there’s a film on shudder called Broadcast Signal Intrusion which sounds interesting.
