May. 9th, 2022 02:38 pmSo Saturday was free comic book day, so I ended up going to Birmingham again for it.
Going there was a bit strange weather wise, because it was part warm, part cool than back warm again. A few times I considered taking my hoodie off but in the end I was glad I didn’t. At the station here the screen to the ticket machine was broken, which seems to be the case most of the time I go. At least I was able to sort a ticket despite that.
In Birmingham, the vibes were off. I had to go to the bullring before getting comics and… half the shops between the station and there seemed to be closed. This despite it being after 9 which felt weird, especially as one was a news agents.
At the first forbidden planet I was puzzled too cause there was no queue outside like usual and there wasn’t even one until you got upstairs. Thankfully this time they let people take 5 comics, so I got the main 4 I wanted (Buffy, Doctor Who, Pokemon, Sonic) from there (and one more, the bone orchard).
Next I went to the new Game store, which is in the new sports direct. Why are all the game stores moving into there? It looked pretty nice though and I got a discounted Star Wars figure (Admiral Ackbar) and a little Lego poly bag from Mario. After that I went in Poundland, picking some things for mum as well as a nature book and Groot one.
The other forbidden planet gave me the usual random comic bag (which included something called Primos, which has the comic in English and Spanish which I thought was interesting). I got a few discounted Star Wars stuff too, the speeder from Solo and the Fennec funko (she’s so awesome). And I got the last Obi-Wan comic from the shelf.
I went in a few other places but didn’t get too much, getting the new Spiderman and Matrix films from hmv before heading to the bullring. I got some free chocolate from a thing there, and it was actually pretty nice, it’s Tony’s choco…. Something. But you could really taste the sea salt in it.
Last place before heading home was getting the darksaber from the entertainer, which looks so badass.
If I’d have seen Spiderman I’d have gone to see doctor strange, but I might in a week if it’s still on.
So yeah pretty eventful, but at the same time I was back home pretty early.
I am puzzled though cause it seems I lost my Kill The Lights ticket cause it wasn’t in my bag. I’m hoping it’s somewhere here or in my Who magazine but…
I’ve also developed a slight fortnite fixation. I’ve done the may 4th quests and I did spouse my Xbox credit to get Fennec (and Krrstan) and I ended up unlocking more skins by playing, but none are as cool as Fennec’s. (Though the Prowler one is pretty cool)
Yesterday was meant to be a pretty easy day, but I got woke up at around six by mum yelling. Why? Because a cat had got into the house. I’m not sure if it was the same one that spooked Leia the other week but I managed to carry them outside.
After getting some more rest I did managed to read some of the comics while food was cooking, so I read the ones I went for and they were pretty good. Though I have to admit the second Pokémon story was sadder than I’d have expected. I hope to read the others soon.
We ended up just watching a few random things yesterday, a random film (which led me to wonder if Martha’s Vineyard was named after a Martha.. apparently no one knows and it doesn’t even have a vineyard!) an ep of Brokenwood and then Romancing The Stone, which made me wish I’d seen the lost city.
In the night I went on Lego Star Wars randomly to unlock some people (and wonder if the mustafarians have a welsh accent) but then I ended up feeling… eh. I ended up laying on the sofa in the dark again which was… annoying.
This morning I’d hoped to brainstorm for the project thing but instead I woke and my tummy was being all achy. It’s faded now but I just ended up wanting to stay in bed asleep. Ugh. Hopefully I can come up with something tomorrow.
