Home Again
Pairing: CJ/Flick
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Fluff
Notes: So I never expected to fic them but they’re so cute I couldn’t not
CJ let out a soft yawn as he shifted in his seat. As tempting as it was to drift off to sleep in the comfy chair in the seaplane, he knew that he’d soon be back home where he could rest instead in his comfy bed.
It had been a good day. He’d gotten another person to take part in his seasports challenge and they’d been all to happy to fill his tackle bag with a variety of fish from their island. Red snappers, sea bass, koi and a variety of others were all there, ready to join the collection that he maintained back home. Also there were the three fish that he’d been given to make a replica model of, barreleye. In reality his partner already had models that were good to go, but it never hurt to have more. The model would be ready to send once he arrived, since he’d already sent Flick a message once he got the fish.
“...and the temperature is... comfortable.” Wilbur’s voice sounded over the seaplane’s comm, disturbing him from his thoughts. “We’ll be making a water landing, but that’s ok because this is a seaplane.” CJ couldn’t help but smile at that, no matter how many times he heard those words it always amused him. He looked out the window, at the small island beneath them, the dawn light illuminating it, showing off all the flowers and trees that covered their little island home. It was beautiful.
The seaplane landed at the small jetty, nothing like the airport that he’d came from or the other nearby islands. After all, it was just them, so there was no real need for anything too fancy. He had to admit it was strange going to some of the different islands and yet seeing the same people, especially Nook. Though it was too late fo4 such thoughts. The seaplane’s landing was as good as it ever was and soon it had come to stop. He was home.
CJ stretched before getting out of his seat and opening the plane’s door, hopping out onto the platform. There, at the end of the jetty, was a wooden box. It was a repurposed tiny library only without books. Inside was a neatly wrapped present, which he knew was for the villager he’d just left behind. He took it out, returning to the plane to handle it to Wilbur. “Be sure they get it ok.”
“You can count on me.” The pilot responded with a nod, setting the present down and returning his attention to the controls. In a few moments the plane would be back in the air, so CJ started to make his way home.
It didn’t take long to get to the building that he and Flick called home. It wasn’t like a regular house that other villagers had, instead the building was much like the museums he’d seen. Indeed it had a similar internal plane, one wing for bugs while another had various tanks for fish. Once inside he set his tackle bag by the entrance to the fish wing, intending to sort them all once he’d had some rest. But first...
He headed down the stairs into the basement. Unlike museums it wasn’t dedicated to fossils but instead the space was Flick’s workshop, where he made and stored his models. They really were works of art, every single one of them and CJ couldn’t help but gush over how talented he was to anyone that would listen. It was true, he always managed to captured the essence of the subject, but or fish.
He caught sight of Flick at one of his desks, though he was slumped over it, clearly asleep. CJ smiled to himself at the sight, heading over and kissing Flick’s forehead before gently rousing him. “Hmmm?”
“Hey baby, I’m home.” CJ whispered, running his fingers down his side as Flick yawned. “Let’s get you to bed so we can rest up.” Flick nodded as CJ helped him to his feet, wrapping an arm around him to keep him steady as they took the stairs to the room they shared. CJ didn’t even bother undressing as he led him towards their bed. It was nice and big, more than big enough for the two of them to curl up together. He was glad it was the weekend now because that meant that’s exactly what they’d be doing for a good portion of the day.
“Missed you.” Flick murmured as he get under the covers and CJ couldn’t help but smile.
“I missed you too to babe.” CJ leaned over and kissed him before joining him under the covers, he snuggled against his partner’s side, finally allowing sleep to take him knowing that this was where he belonged, that this was his home. Not the building but here in Flick’s arms.
