If you climb high enough even a nightmare can look like a dream

So the heat has beeen horrendous these past few days. Apparently it’s been the hottest days of June on record which… very much isn’t a good thing. And it’s made things so draining. I’ve had sweat dripping off been unable to sleep with most nights not being able to settle until at least 4am. Which… ugh.

Yesterday was just… ugh though. We got warnings due to the weather so I sat mum down Monday and told her not to do anything, cause I had visions of her overexerting herself without telling me. Sure enough yesterday she’d decided to turn downstairs into an obstacle course yesterday morning which just made me even more exhausted when she called wanting my ‘help’. I’ve told her before the best way of doing things is for me to do things with her from the start (ideally with warning) but for some reason she’s allergic to doing that, expecting me to ‘help’ only when she’s half done and her making things a mess. It was just so frustrating especially with the heat. Like why is she like this?

I have managed to watch a few things though so let’s get into that. (Thoughts under the cut, tales From 85, From ep 2, We’re All Going To The World’s Fair)

First was watching Tales From 85 eps, which was watching the last 4 episodes to finish the series. Overall I thought it was really good, it was a fun time and I loved that it was kinda Dustin centric (though it did annoy me how often Dustin was separate from the group which was also an issue with the main show.) It was also focussed on the party so there wasn’t side plots with the adults or the older teens (which meant Steve and Nancy only shown up briefly but both were used well, though Jonathan only appeared briefly in the first ep)

I did come to really like Nikki, though I do worry for her for obvious reasons (I didn’t like the other new character Rosario as much.) And I did love the new plant enemies. I dunno if they have a technical name yet but I’m a sucker for plant creatures

I think the main problem with the show is that they set it between season 2 and 3. It just feels weird setting a story there, cause they thought everything was over. But if you can overlook that it’s a fun time.

There is a season 2 coming which is not a surprise due to the last scene (and the use of We’ll Meet Again was surprisingly effective)

Tuesday has become the night to watch From (like Friday is The Pitt)

It was funny watching From cause I figured there’d be a scene explaining How Things Worked and the sheriff (?) guy was basically *shrugs* ‘we don’t fucking know anything’. (Then again maybe that was due to the situation or maybe someone else knows more.) I am curious about the talisman things because they had to have come from somewhere right? Or maybe they were just ‘there’ when the people got stuck in the town, though they’d still have to come from somewhere.plus the synopsis of the next ep makes out like the house and town are serperior which I’m curious about to, but I guess next ep will show how)

Also damn, the poor deputies dad and that nice carer/nurse.

I also forget how much sky stuff is so much more gory than usual stuff which did catch me off guard a bit. (I say as if I’ve seen much, I’ve only seen Fortitude and this, now tv does have the last fortitude season which I’ve not seen so I might)

Lastly on Wednesday night I watched We’re All Going To The World’s Fair. (Spoilery thoughts ahoy)

I dunno what to think about it really. The ending was so ambiguous (and there’s been a few ambitious things I’ve watched lately) that it did bug me a bit. But I do feel it’s one of those things where the ambiguity is part of the whole point.

It’s hard to know if anything supernatural was actually happening. Cause everything with Casey was internal her actions could easily be her having either a break down or just acting for the roleplay. It’s hard to know and again that feels the whole point. The only thing I am sure of is that JLB was lying about the meeting but how much I’m not sure. Poor Poe though.

As I predicted I didn’t get much from prime day. I just got a Star Wars book, the updated complete locations which has some new stuff from Solo/Andor/Rogue One so I’m curious to see them. (I still need to read the mandalorian guide). Plus I also picked up a Skeletor figure to go with He-Man. And Strange Buildings from the kindle sale (I need to get back to Strange Pictures.) I might get those reduced month subs for things but we’ll see.

I did pick up Two Point Hospital and Campus from the switch sale. I have them on Xbox but they’re not a great game to play with my eyes being bad (and text being small) so hopefully having them on handheld will be better, that is if I go on them and not just get sidetracked

Speaking of games Marvel Snap has been terrible with its crashing, the current season has been so much I did contact support a few weeks back but it feels utterly useless. I’ve done back and forth submitting more info but there’s no real progress it feels. Which is so annoying cause this season has had a new Jeff but I didn’t wanna buy the pass when nothing works well. And by that I mean every single game crashes at least once, which makes some modes impossible

I’m still waiting on the Mandalorian and Grogu soundtrack to come in at hmv but there is Exit 8 on the way so yipee. There’s also a Project Hail Mary Steelbook just announced so I’m hoping it gets a uk release. If so I’ll have to cancel my preorder to get it cause it looks so pretty. Just look at it

I dunno what I’m gonna do with the rest of the night. I was gonna try and watch something but I dunno if I’m in the mood/mindset. I might just flop instead.

Hopefully I am going to see Supergirl tomorrow (with Ghost In The Shell/Bleach) but I am prepared to just just up on it and the anime stuff if the weather is too overpowering. If so I’ll go next week and see Supergirl with Minions And Monsters (yes I wanna see it, it looks fun!) if I do see Supergirl I might watch Minions And Monsters with something else, maybe Toy Story 5.

Anyway, now to flop

Hasn't the heat been horrendous?? We're not set up for it in Britain are we... It's cooled a bit here in the last couple of days and it's nice not to be covered in sweat 24/7.

I know what you mean about not sleeping, what I did was turn upside down in the bed so my feet were at the headboard and my head was more in the throughdraft between the fan and the window. And either covered with a sheet or nothing at all. I've never been able to sleep uncovered til this year though!

The government and organisations have at last been talking about setting up measures to deal with extreme heat in Britain as we're not set up for it here. They have their nice air conditioned offices and homes but 99% of us don't!

Re talismans: You will know where they came from by the end of the season, although there's still some context I'd like to know myself which I think will be something for season 5. Yes, next episode is the one for explaining more re Town/Colony House.
