So today’s AMA is, again, from [personal profile] turps. I had marked it down as being for the second but as I was tired (and it was for any day) I moved it here instead. So the question is this

Do you have an all time favourite film you could watch over and over?

I’m sure people will probably expect me to say the Star Wars films and, while I do love them they’re not ones I regularly watch (in fact I’ve not done a full 11 film watch in quite awhile and probably should sometime this year). However the Star Wars films do give me feels, I still remember seeing the special editions with mum and one of my lasting memories of my grandad is him yelling when we saw The Phantom Menace. (And of course Revenge Of The Sith being the films I’ve seen most at the cinema and others being my first midnight showing films). I’m still having trouble deciding which of the newer films is my fav (i have favs from the OT a and PT and I think they’re obvious)

Probably my fav film to watch is Mamma Mia. It’s just so fun and the songs get stuck in my head for days after (and it inspired one of the fav fics I’ve ever done). I just think it’s such a fun good time and it makes me smile. The sequel is a bit less so for me, because yeah it’s still fun but there’s some contradictions with the first one that bug me a bit, but I still enjoy it. I’ll have to watch them again soon.

Another fav is the Guardians Of The Galaxy films which are my favourite of the MCU ones. They’re just so fun and combine my love of sci-fi stuff with some great music and so much fun. We’re gonna be doing a watch of them before the new one comes out (I probably won’t add in infinity war/endgame and I’m still kinda sad we don’t get a full film of the guardians with Thor)

Of Disney films I think my fav one has become Moana, which is so bright and pretty, thoughI also like Frozen (I’m less so about 2, because like with the Mamma Mia sequel isn’t feels like there’s contradictions). Apparently they’re working on a live action Moana which feels strange, especially when the animated one is so fun.

Lastly there’s Trick R Treat, which is a film that I watch every Halloween. It’s the perfect Halloween film and the best example of an anthology film I’ve ever seen. This is because each of the stories happens on the same night in the same places and if you watch closely you can see things that show how they weave together, which make it feel more cohesive then other anthologies tend to be.

I could probably think of a few others if I put my mind to it, I’m definitely sure I’m missing something but I’ll leave it there for now.

Anyone commenting, what’s your fav films?

***

Yesterday ended up being ok, my stomach did settle though I ended up being tired from the food shop coming late. And also there’s something mum said that lingered with me (I might go into that in a locked post later) and it definitely rattled me,

I did, however manage to finish Contrast last night so yay that’s a game done! It is the sort of game that I do like, the puzzles were pretty clever (the central mechanic is that you can shift into illuminated surfaces as a shadow), although some parts did feel a tad overlong. However it is pretty short and it did give me feels, so I enjoyed it.

I went up to bed after finishing it (and tucking Midna in) so I dozed off after that and missed Foolish’s qsmp stream, though I did watch clips this morning and he was cute.

Annoyingly this morning the net has flickered again (at least three times in the space of an hour). Talktalk are looking into it but, who knows what they’ll find,

At least it stayed active for The Mandalorian, which was actually pretty fun. The whole ep did feel like a side quest but it was entertaining and I loved the investigation part of it. And also it has both Jack Black and Christopher Lloyd as guest stars, which I had to do a double take for.

Now I’m gonna watch the Xbox uk stream in a bit and maybe fic some (since I did some more this morning)

I haven't rewatched the Star Wars films in ages, but they hold a special place in my heart. Mamma Mia and Trick 'r Treat are so much fun!

My favourite film is The Shape of Water - nothing could ever be more specifically made for me: monsters, romance, Beauty and the Beast vibes, even classic musicals! Guillermo del Toro's films always get me in a way that no other director's films do, but this one is extra special to me.

I have a few favourite films; Kiki's Delivery Service is the perfect feelgood film, and I love everything about the Doctor Who film with Eight except the actual plot. It's just such a fun romp! Other favourites that I can think of are Fern Gully and Sleeping Beauty.

Ooh! Never thought of looking for Mama Mia fic; that's one of my fave films too. (Not that I watch many movies; I prefer episode TV.) Is that story posted anywhere? I checked at AO3 for Mama Mia fic, but there's more than I thought, and I can't find 'shadowhive' as a user name.

But now I need to check through the search results, see if there's anything interesting. Oh, well, I wasn't going to get anything done this evening anyway.

Excellent response to the question.

I really like GotG too, the team thing really works for me, especially the first one.

McGann was criminally underused on TV, I did however devour so many of his Big Finish audiobooks and they were thankfully really good! Having Eight as one of my favourites is definitely kind of a sad experience though.

I haven't seen Fern Gully in years actually, I should really try to get it on DVD.

ETA: Btw, your autocorrect is on point - I wonder what Kirk’s Delivery Service would be like? :D
