So you make plans that fail?
Apr. 1st, 2023 07:13 pmToday has ended up being pretty tiring so this’ll be a fairly short post (at least shorter than I thought it was gonna be)
First off, something that slipped my mind from the earlier post: it was Naryu’s birthday today! She is now 4 and so cute (and it’s curled up somewhere) we got her some treats (and hoped to get more today but didn’t really see anything).
It was thanks to giving Naryu a brief walk that I saw that the buses are, for some reason, not running like normal. Usually there is one every half hour but for some reason one of the bus routes isn’t running so there was only one running, which was a bit annoying,
We went to town probably earlier than we should, but we had a little wander around a few places. I used some change and points at game to get a black series figure in the sale, Teeka, the Jawa from Obi-Wan (cause Jawa’s are cute).
We got to the cinema before it opened so we were in as soon as doors opened. They were playing music from Mamma Mia in our screen room which is always a great choice. Trailers included three things that I’m gonna see anyway (Mario, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Indiana Jones) and two I likely won’t (The Flash, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).
Anyway Dungeons And Dragons thoughts ahoy, so if you haven’t seen there may be spoilers. The short version is I enjoyed it and I think that if you like what you saw in trailers then you should go and see it.
One thing I liked about it is that it works as a complete standalone thing. I had minimal DND knowledge and I didn’t feel that stopped me from enjoying it (it did make me curious about various things and I did recognise a few places and creatures). It does feel like it will get follow ups, but at the same time if it doesn’t that would be fine (it would be very very wrong but it would be fine).
Because I do wanna see more of this world and more of these characters and villian pulling the strings is still out there, ripe to course trouble (and he was very creepy). And yeah I definitely wanna see more of the paladin Xenk especially because he’s so hot. It’s a shame he didn’t join the party because it makes sense that he didn’t because he’s so competent.
Other things I liked (in bullet points cause I’m feeling kinda drained):
*Potatoes
*Owlbear!
*The revived dead and the questions
*The under dark was pretty
*Fun with portals
*Chubby dragon
*tentacle trap thing
*Gelatinous cube!
*The hot paladin
*The end fight with the animated dragon
I’m sure I had more thoughts but, again, tired. But it was fun and made me laugh and made me feel things. Sure I could see certain things coming but that’s not a bad thing.
After that we went to McDonald’s and my lack of assertiveness/shyness strikes again. It took forever for the order to get sorted and I said nothing until one of them asked. I did think about asking a few times but I heard someone ask about an issue with their order and assumed it was the same. It was good but ugh it took so so so long.
I went in B and M hoping they might have some of the Lego reduced things I’d seen online but alas, no. However they did have the Minecraft bee plush which is really cute and fits with the bee house I’m gonna build later.

Date: 2023-04-02 07:50 pm (UTC)I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the movie. Standalone films seem to very rare these days so it's cool to hear this one didn't depend on much previous knowledge of DnD.

Date: 2023-04-02 08:27 pm (UTC)Yeah! I’m sure prior knowledge would give an added boost (as well as going, hey it’s that place! Or hey it’s thing!) but it stood alone as enjoyable to me who had minimal knowledge

Date: 2023-04-03 09:04 am (UTC)I saw D&D yesterday and really enjoyed it. I would have been happy to see more of Xenk too. It cracked me up when he went right over the rock on the beach at the end.
