Today has been… ugh.
I intended to listen to one of the Doctor Who audios from the humble bundle this morning, but as soon as I woke it was clear I wasn’t up to it. (I managed to download all the audios last night, while sorting the insomnia ticket for mum to print out today.) Because no, there was not one, but two things wrong. First my tummy felt funny, but the bigger thing was my right eye hurt and I couldn’t figure out why.
Thankfully both have eased off over the course of the day (though I can feel the eye starting to act up now): but ugh.
The other thing this morning was the call that had been re-booked in. So I, reluctantly, left my bed (where I’d been resting my eyes) and came down to wait. And wait. And wait.
It didn’t come.
At first I thought I’d got the date wrong, that it was next week, but after confirming with the post I mentioned it I realised nope it was today. I chased it up, leaving a message on the answering thing…. And then got called back. Only now the appointment is booked into September. If I hadn’t just sat down to lunch I’d have questioned it. Why so long? Why can’t they just do it now? But between lunch and the eh ness in the morning I just wasn’t up to it.
This afternoon I went on fortnite, which had an update this morning. I like the new lazy lagoon location, it’s pretty and piratey. The main thing though, is a bunch of Dragon Ball stuff, which… I’ve never watched and have no idea about. Apparently there’s gonna be an island playing some episodes, but I get the feeling I’ll be totally lost. (The xbox uk stream mentioned some stuff about it and if sounded so…. Puzzling.) but hey, the reward for completing the quests is a cool looking dragon thing.
It was while I was watching the stream I had an email notification from Zavvi, about preordering Doctor Who season 2. I expected it to be some steel book or something of new Who, but it wasn’t. To my surprise it’s the next of the Doctor Sho collection blu ray box sets!
I didn’t think there’d be a first Doctor set so soon. I’d heard rumblings that season 2 was upcoming, but I’d honestly dismissed it. So yeah, it’s a surprise, but a welcome one. Most of the episodes are intact (an impressive feat for the first two doctor’s) but one, the crusade, has missing episodes. Apparently they’re not doing a fancy animation, but instead just using photos and off air recordings for it. It sounds a little… cheap, but I’d heard it had a large cast list which made people think an animation was unrealistic. (And to be honest, it’s not an ep I’d mind missing)
The trailer is quite touching, as these trailers often are, and it looks like there’s been some interesting special features too. I think the ep of the 9 (9!) I’m most looking forward to watching again is the web planet, though honestly I don’t remember some of them too well.
But yeah, I’m honestly surprised we’ve got a first doctor boxset already, even before a second fifth Doctor one.
There’s not a release date yet (maybe they will be in the new Who magazine) which is probably for the best, considering how these boxsets have always, without fail, got delayed anyway.
