Prompt 4: Green
Green is a rich color that is associated with a variety of things including: awakening, growth, renewal, productivity, intelligence, exuberance, prosperity, money, luck, envy, greed, survival, nature, spring, and birth.
Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises. —Pedro Calderon de la Barca
Green can be the fresh growth of spring plants after a long winter. Green can be the good fortune waiting for you around each corner. What green things have you enjoyed this year?

As I’m sure is true of many people, the first thing I think of when I think of green is nature. The green that comes from leaves in trees, bushes and flowers. I’m lucky in that I’m close to several green spaces, a park, a lik reservoir, a canal. I go to these places every day since I have Naryu to walk and it’s nice being around nature. I’m not sure I could love in a place without it.
(Which oddly leads to a conversation I had with mum last night about how you need to have the right mindset to go on a Mars. Such a mission would mean that you couldn’t just walk outside and enjoy nature and that might drive some people crazy, you’d also need a hydroponics bay to grow food and supply oxygen.)
Fandom wise most green things tend to be along those lines, representing plants or nature in some way. More often than not this is represented up the locations that are shown (the forest moon of Endor, the Kokiri Forest, viridian Forest) but there are examples of green used in other ways too.
In Star Wars the most prominent green character is Yoda (and the child) both representatives of an unknown green species whose origins have always been a mystery. My favourite green character (and also Jedi) is Kit Fisto. He only appears briefly in the films (before being unceremoniously killed off my Palpatine) but he’s in the Clone Wars too, albeit not at much as I’d have liked. Green is also the colour of the Halo, a bounty hunter’s ship that appears in the clone wars and, later, the Aftermath novels.
In Animal Crossing green appears as part of the natural surroundings (tree, bushes, plants, insects) but also in the iconography of items. Items are represented in the inventory by icons and furniture ones are green leaves (which is also one of the series many icons)
Doctor a Who doesn’t have two any green things, though there are two main races that are green. The Silurians and Ice Warriors. Both are reptilian races, the Silurians from ancient earth history and the ice warriors from Mars.
In Pokemon a huge swarth of them are green, most of whom are grass types. Since grass types are typically plant based most of them have some form of green colouring on their bodies. The grass starters like Bulbasaur are either all or partly green, as are their evolutions.
However the series with the perhaps the most prominent green iconography is Zelda. Link, the hero of all the games (although unlike, say Mario, most Link’s are actually different individuals) wear a green tunic. In some games this is his first outfit, in others it’s one he gains during his quest. The first dungeon in the games typically tends to be nature related with the reward for beating the boss being something green (like the kokiri emerald, the forest medallion). Green is associated with Farore, one of the three gold goddesses who created the triforce. As such green is often associated with courage, the courage to take the first step on a journey. And, of course, there’s the cute lil korok’s.

After my post yesterday I ended up snuggling and reading some things from one of the Doctor Who magazines. I read two articles from one of the issues, one about the new series writers and one about the first doctor’s episodes, since there was a vote on twitter to decide on the best. (Personally I think it’s a little unfair that 5ey included some of the episodes that were lost. I mean who can have an opinion on something they literally can’t see?) I’ve not seen any of the first doctor eps in... a long time either so I can’t recall most that well,
There was the Ubisoft stream last night and I watched most of it. The focus was on three games. The first was Watch Dogs Legion. I’ve not really played the other games (despite having both) so I’m not sure I’d get this one. It looks like it could be fun, especially since you can place as a granny going round kicking ass (though it also seems grim). There’s Far Cry 6 which... I’m not too fussed about. And there was Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Although it looks cool (and it was nice to see Stonehenge) I’m just... not as sold on it as I was with Origins or Odyssey. No doubt I will get it, but yeah.
There’s gonna be another presentation at some point, so hopefully that will have other things like Rayman and such.
I ended up watching a new thing on Drama channel, My Life Is Murder, a detective thing from Australia and it turned out to be pretty good. It was strange seeing the kitty in it that looked like Solo, my old cat who’s been gone for years now.
I was gonna go on Beyond Blue but I got distracted and just ended up watching Maxx’s stream and then au was just too tired. Hopefully I’ll go on it tonight. I’m gonna read some soon too, more of the new Night Vale novel.
There’s been a trailer for Star Trek Lower Decks and it looks fun, it has a Final Space vibe to it. Still no non-us release info though sadly.
