Don’t they have a silent mode?
Dec. 10th, 2025 07:04 pmToday has been a busy day but first.
As I mentioned in the last post the library stint yesterday was quiet and I mentioned to mum about getting the tree sorted. I was saying it in the sense of ‘we’ll do it Saturday’ but mum took it to mean ‘we’ll get it down yesterday’. Cue me lugging the thing down after the food shop came, opening the box and getting it out… only to find the stand for it is nowhere to be seen.
I think we’d boxed it last year, forgot to add the stand and it got put with other things but do I know where they are? Nope. So we have the tree box where it would go cause I didn’t have the energy to mess with it. (Mums genius idea? Sort it while food was cooking and obviously that went wrong)
Sigh.
Today started with sorting out an order for mum (the gingerbread Lego that’s meant to be for Xmas, but it’s on back order, but at least doing it now got a freebie) then mums friend came, ostensibly to bring Xmas stuff but of course she wanted stuff ordering too ugh.
Mail came today too, the new Stranger Things annual (which I got under half price!) which looks really good on my flick through! There was also God Is A Bullet, the blu ray with hot Garrett Wareing (which I was told to expect by Jan 22) so I hope it’s good (and works!). Then when I came back Doctor Who books were here (I got some 2 for £5 deals from zavvi, which are mostly hardbacks so oop sorry mum that you had to move them).
Today I went to town, the town part was pretty short. I looked in smiths for the new stranger things stickers but they’re not out yet, but I did get a Stranger Things thing from b and m (the box that I lost when I lost my bag the other month) but they didn’t have the snack pack or bag alas.
I went into Smyths but alas they didn’t have the stranger things funkos I was looking for (even Vecna which was listed on the site, but I guess he was on the high shelves hidden) but I did get the Lego happy plants though (look how cute!). I also got the Frankenstein art/making off book which was a real bargain from Asda (less than half off!). I had a little flick through and it looks beautiful.
None of the trailers were interesting so I will just jump right into the film talk. (Unlike the last film thoughts these will be more spoilery. So let’s get onto thoughts of Pillion and Five Nights At Freddy’s 2
First Pillion. I saw it described as a dom sub rom com somewhere but that feels so wrong. (I dunno where they thought the rom com part was). However the dom sub side? That’s there absolutely.
Surprisingly despite that it’s not as kinky as I expected it to be, sure their first encounter starts with the sub (Collin) sucking the dom (Ray) off in an ally (plus licking his boots) and there is some other sexual scenes (including with Ray’s biker gang friends) but it wasn’t as kinky as I expected. The domming is more Ray having control of Collin’s life and it’s more… domestic? (Though I hated when Collin lost his nice hair)
However it’s clear from the start that the relationship isn’t exactly a good one. For one there’s no scene of them establishing any sort of boundaries. Collin just goes along with what Ray says and yeah, he’s happy to at first but it’s clear as it goes on that he wants… more. There’s a point at the end where he does say what he wants and Ray does give it him and it seems to have gone great but then… Ray just leaves and is never seen again and it’s honestly sad. (I half expected Ray to make a return but he didn’t)
At least at the end it shows Collin establishing boundaries and getting a new relationship, which was sweet.
It is, surprisingly, a type 2 Christmas film, with the opening being at Christmas. (The scene I mention above happens Christmas Day) and it’s also wild that Collin is from Harry Potter (he plays Harry’s ass cousin) but it’s nice to see him in a role where he can show his skills.
(When I say there’s types of Christmas films I say there’s two kinds of Christmas films. Type 1 are films about Christmas, this includes The Grinch, Muppet Christmas Carol and White Christmas. The fact that it is Christmas is central to the plot. Type 2 are films set at Christmas (or have a Christmas scene), but the fact that it’s Christmas isn’t key to the plot, this includes Die Hard, Prometheus and now Pillion.)
Second was Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 which was a rush and I did miss some trailers. The ones I did see were what I’d seen before so I suspect it was no loss. I did see the first film again a few days ago and I’m glad I did, though you can see it without and still enjoy it.
I had assumed that it would follow on from the first one, with Afton back as the main villian but trapped in/possessing the suit. However this isn’t what happened. I assume that this is gonna be a main point as why people don’t like it and, yeah it’s a valid point. (A mid credit scene implies a third film will cover that)
However this film instead went in a different direction covering marionette in a different Freddy’s. This was actually quite effective and I did like it. Marionette is creepy as a villian, as are some of the animatronics she uses.
There was a section part way through, with ghost hunters investigating Freddy’s (featuring Junior from Chucky) and, honestly? That could have been its own film (or even just a longer segment) but alas it was just one part, which was a shame cause it was my fav.
It did feel odd that the aunt from the first film is alive, because it felt she was very much dead (she is in an institution though from the sounds of it). And this film is also explicitly set in the early 2000’s something I didn’t realise in the first one.
(Also Mike why’re you so surprised Vanessa hasn’t told you anything about her past? 1: she was cagey at best about it in the first film and 2: it’s clear she doesn’t want to talk about it cause trauma)
I really liked it though yeah the last scene, mid credits and end credits audio mean there’s gotta be another. (Also funny that Skeet Ulrich is in the opening titles and only has one scene so he’s gotta come back right?)
That might be it for cinema adventures this month. I might see The Shining on one of it’s showings though but I’m not sure yet (it depends on mood, energy and weather) and I do wanna see Anaconda but that likely won’t be till early January cause it comes out just after Xmas.
Now though I’m gonna bundle up, watch stuff and might fic some.
Next days are low energy I might watch stuff (and the game awards is tomorrow) and I might go back to home bargains to get more Star Wars doorables (they’re so cute! And this set has some of my favs) but who knows if I’ll feel up to it. I also wanna make peanut butter booped cause I found recipes.
And there was something else but it’s gone out of my brain completely.
