Jan. 10th, 2025 12:28 pmI did mean to do the new snowflake post yesterday but cause I can’t think of anything for it yet, it’s time for a general post.
My focus is a little off cause I’ve not slept too well. The placement of the scar from the biopsy means it can be difficult to settle. A few nights it has been so painful/hard to settle I’ve not got much sleep which is so annoying.
A few days ago mum did remove the dressing and the scar is 4 about inches long, which is much bigger than I expected (I thought it’d be half that cause the thing on my back was under an inch across). No wonder the doctor that did it made a comment about it being a ‘cool scar’.
Other than it being hard to settle it’s largely being annoying. I still can’t bend down or stretch, laughing sometimes hurts and when we walk Naryu I can’t hold her lead like usual (which is confusing her and making her act up a bit, but I couldn’t take her pulling). Which ugh.
A letter came the other day about switching to Universal Credit which, ugh, hasn’t really helped, I’m not too keen on it cause I’ve heard horror stories but I’m not in the mindset to contact the advisor to go over it. It doesn’t need sorting for months yet so I’m just gonna focus on recovering.
It hasn’t helped that it’s suddenly gone really cold. The thermostat thing doesn’t seem to be working either. Its batteries needed changing and since then it’s not wanted to work for some reason. It comes on, but doesn’t seem to be communicating with the boiler which… I dunno why.
It seems mum’s back and forth about seeing Better Man, at least at the cinema at Bentley Bridge, has ended. It seems we’re not gonna go after all which, is kinda fine by me cause the ticket prices seemed so high.but I was kinda hoping to go and try and get the shadow thing that the cinema had (some kinda cup thing) and I did was kinda wanting to look in town but between cold, money and back? It’s best not to really.
It is showing in the more local cinema, however it’s at 6:30 which makes it a no cause I don’t think I could manage the walk back.
Instead of going, and cause there was a January sale on tickets, were instead going to the theatre at the end of the month, to see a production of Murder On The Orient Express at the same theatre we saw And Then There Were None last year. So at least we’ll have one trip out and it is an afternoon showing this time which should be better.
And speaking of Agatha Christie I ended up getting some more books cause mum insisted so four of them came today. Most are for the reading challenge (I think I now have 6 of the 12?) and one of them is older than I am! I might have to message the seller though cause the cover on one is wrong (the one not for the challenge cause it was meant to be pretty butterflies) but we’ll see.
I also got the first book of the challenge out from the boxset mum got me for christmas a year back, but damn it took me about 10 minutes to get it out of the box it was in so tight. I’ve not started it yet but it’s in reach.
In more fandom things, I finished building the last Lego set I got: the dark falcon. However two other pieces are missing so I had to send for them, so it’s not fully done. It looks nice being all black and all, but one quarter of the interior does feel a bit empty (it only has a crate) but the other parts are better, there’s a gaming system, a throne, a cell and a set of nice beds. The only other bad part is the turret on the underside which, while nice, is so fragile. The figures are pretty cool though, but it is a bit of a shame there probably won’t be more sets based on the show (there’s an x-wing and tie fighter set, plus a Jedi starfighter) I’d have loved to see the dark Kit Fisto figure, or the Maul in Lando’s fit or ewok bounty hunters
In terms of watching stuff I watched started Stranger Things season 3. I love that they wasted no time introducing Steve in his outfit and that there was that whole scene of Billy as a lifeguard, like damn. I’m curious to see how the season will play out. I have my suspicions about some things (I feel it’s super obvious we’ll get Russians at some point, and I feel something is gonna go down at that new mall).
I also put on the first ep of season 2 of The Rig. I watched season 1 over a few nights but I don’t think I have the focus to this time. However I really enjoyed the first ep it felt like they threw a lot into it. (Like a whole new location but still with a rig, plus an underwater base). But it did make me think of Helix season 1 (arctic base, potentially dubious experiments, a ceo played by someone who was a Borg). I’m looking forward to see how it plays out and to see who said ceo (played by Alice Krige) is really lying to.
Plus there was also Skeleton Crew which also continues to be really great, though damnit the sexy pirate ended up dying. There’s only one ep left though which feels like such a shame. The actors that play the kids have done such a great job with them it feels sad to already leave them. Hopefully they’ll be back.
I’ve also ended up watching this seasons The Traitors and there really is something about it that hooks you in doesn’t it? Though I felt bad for Kasim the other day and how they all went for him and for why? Cause he was a doctor and nice like ???
Anyway I’m gonna bundle up now and maybe do something but no doubt get distracted or tired so I end with a pic of the round girl being snuggly.
