Big pipe huh?
So today was another trip to town for the cinema.
I went pretty early, cute I was going for the 10 am showing of Disclosure Day. So I was able to hit a few places beforehand. I went to the clearance place but they didn’t have much but! They did have a Funko of Dustin from Season 4 (in his battle armour) so I picked him up. Then I went in CEX to pick up Black Phone 2 since I saw they had it in stock at last. So that’s another of my fav films from last year ticked off physically.
They also had the new Thunderbirds boxset behind the counter which looks pretty impressive. I really need to get it sometime.
After going in b and m for stuff for mum, (and the entertainer to look if they got the clearance Link, they’d not I might need to order it) I went to the cinema (but more on that under the cut).
Between showings I went to Argos and got flareon Funko cause it was on sale, I looked if smyths still had the stranger things care bear I saw last time and it was Lucas, so I got him. Then I had noms at Burger King (alas the force fries are finished boo) and then went back for my second showing of Mandalorian And Grogu.
Trailers were mostly ones I’d see before. There was Hunger Games, Spider Man and Supergirl. Plus there were ones new to me.
Heart Of The Beast: Wilderness survival with Brad Pitt and a dog. Not my thing, but valid of his character saying he shot someone who hurt his dog.
Pressure: World War II film about how weather affected the d-day landings. Looks like it’s done well but not something I’d watch at the cinema.
The End Of Oak Street: I’d seen a trailer for it before but this was a different one. A neighbourhood finds itself back in time… with dinos. Looks like it could be good
The Odyssey: I’m sure I saw this one online cause it’s clear that Robert Paterson’s character and Tom Holland is gonna spawn toxic yaoi. I’m so gonna see it.
Anyway onto films, first being Disclosure Day
Disclosure Day is about a guy who is trying to release files he has stolen about our contact with alien life. At the same time a weather reporter has spoken on air in a strange language….

I’ve not seen many of Spielberg’s films at the cinema. I know I’ve seen Jurassic Park and Jaws last year but I’m not sure I’ve seen anything else. I’ve seen stuff at home (Close Encounters, Raiders, ET, War Of The Worlds) but none of his new stuff at the cinema.
However I was intrigued by this one, cause aliens and saw comparisons to the x-files, which really made me wanna see it.
Overall it was good. Some parts were pretty good, and the two leads were great especially when their stories drew them together. And there was some nice talks about what would happen if the existence of aliens was revealed.
It does have a flaw in the ending feels so sudden. Like it feels there should have been more, looking into the aftermath of that last scene. (And yeah that last scene itself felt it ended abruptly)

Since I got the pass last year there’s a few films I thought of seeing at the cinema for a second time (I think about 4?) yet the first one I’ve seen twice is Mandalorian and Grogu. It feels appropriate, since Star Wars films are the ones I’ve seen multiple times in cinemas. (Revenge Of The Sith is the film I’ve seen most in cinema in its original run, though I’ve seen The Phantom Menace the same amount of times on separate runs).
I had thought of seeing Mandalorian and Grogu before, with the Backrooms, but as I mentioned heat/tiredness got the best of me.
However it was even better the second time around (somehow I even got a teeny bit teary despite knowing what happened). I really do love this film so much.
It was funny how I saw it first time in the big screen and this time as one of the smallest, yet the showing had quite a lot of people which was a good sign!
I’m not sure when my next cinema trip is gonna be. I had planned to go next week but the hospital trip is between two planned streams. Wednesday might have been Angels Egg and Friday might have been Jurassic Park, but obviously both are unlikely. So next time might not be until Supergirl. But we’ll see.
It did feel appropriate to start this months pass with Mandalorian and Grogu and end it (unless I see something before Saturday) with it too.
On the way back home I saw some cute ducklings! Which I posted on insta along with pics of other things. They’re such cute lil fluffballs.
I had to get some stuff for mum once I got back so I popped in the sweet shop after the co-op and was so thrown off cause the girl there said I had a nice voice (that she could listen to for hours and read audio books) and ??? Cause I’ve always hated my voice so that was really bizarre.
I’m gonna watch the seapeekay charity stream (protecting voice artists from AI) and then watch Brokenwood and maybe watch more Tales of 85 or something.
