Through many miles of tricks and trials
So Sunday was my birthday, which wasn’t too exciting. The few gifts I got were mostly Lego so I spent time building them. Before lunch I built the minecraftt birthday set which is a cute collection of animals (plus cake and a creeper). The creeper is the best built, cause it’s big and the fox is the cutest, but they’re all adorable. It’s a cute lil set.
The second one was the Lego Fortnite llama which is so cute and so big! There’s a lot of lil parts to it which can get frustration (cause colours look similar) and one part is missing (I think it was switched for another cause there was a part that’s not listed) but y pretty looking. And it’s impressive it stands on just four lil legs (and is quite big!)
Between the two builds was Hocus Pocus, then Dungeons and dodongos which was fun (though Leia decided she wanted attention and to block the cam). Then there was cake, which had sank in the middle which was funny. When mum called me to see I expected a lil dip, but instead it was like a sizeable one, making it look more like a donut. I wish I’d took a pic.
Then in the night I went on Zelda then watched the last two Hauntings eps, which weren’t as good as the first two alas.
There was a bunch of email birthday wishes from companies, some with codes and some are just. There’s two good ones, a free donut from Krispy Kreme (as long as I get in store by the month is out) and a £5 hotel chocolat one (which lasts a month and there’s no minimum spend). But the other two I might’ve used have annoyingly short times. There’s a Set It Off and Rock Sound one, but both only last 7 days so are useless (if only they were ten instead so they’d go to when the next money goes in). Sigh.
Other good things recent ply has been mail, cause a few things have come.
The physical Sleep Token ticket came on Wednesday (before the call) and I’m glad there’s a physical one cause so many are digital which isn’t the same. Before then there was the Lego order mum did, which included those sets as well as the light up pumpkin promo! It’s so cute and the light is quite bright (though it’s only on when you press on it).
On Friday the new Dungeons and dragons adventurer came, which had purple dice with the magazines (I need to look at the tin one properly) as well as a d100. It’s in a fancy wooden box and made of metal so is hefty. I dunno when I’ll use it but it could definitely knock someone out. Then yesterday came the anxiety fox pocket pal that I backed awhile back, with a few freebies. He’s just a lil guy, though I worry his hood will come off.
On its way is the j-horror rising boxset, so that should come tomorrow, along with the 4K Trick R Treat. It’s my first 4k thing, but apparently my Xbox can play it so fingers crossed.
Also When We Were Young was this weekend and, while I’ve not seen much from it I have seen pics of Ray and I can feel something awaken again because damn he looks so pretty.
Spooky stuff over the past few days.
Saturday - The Blair Witch Project
This was on tv so I decided to watch it, since it had been so long since I’d last seen it. For what it is it was well done and you have admire everyone involved for its success (apparently it made over $1000 for each $1 that it cost, and also a lot was improvised by the cast). Though it’s also a little tame. Yeah it’s got some unsettling parts, but the end just feels a bit sudden. Though I guess that’s the point, to leave things with no answers. I have the follow up somewhere so I might watch that sometime.
Before it I also went on Steamworld Heist 2 which is kinda spooky? I wanted to do a level before Blair Witch and of course I picked one that was annoying with a sudden surprise boss fight (and then ended up dying just as I figured it out).
Sunday - Hocus Pocus
I wanted to watch something spooky for my birthday but wasn’t sure what. I did consider doing the next Marple ep instead, but time got limited so I switched to Hocus Pocus. Which, you know, it’s a classic. It’s fun and I Put A Spell On You is such a great musical number. It’s one of those films where you feel that everyone was having a good time. I’m glad I ended up watching it.
I also went on Zelda Echoes Of Wisdom, which again, counts as spooky. I ended up doing Gerudo Sanctum Sunday and then Hyrule Castle Monday (which also included the hardest boss fight so far, I need to make more smoothies). I am loving it so much so far and I got a cat outfit from one of the amiibo so now Zelda can talk to cats!
Like I said in the post I also watched Hauntings which was ok. The first one was the best cause of how unsettling it was, (cause of the violent nature of it) but the second felt more… vague? I dunno.
Today - Rogue
This morning I finished the Novel of Rogue, my fav Doctor Who ep of the last season. I read the last 12 chapters today. It gave a bit more insight into the Chuldur and the last scene (showing that Rogue was alive and waiting for the Doctor), just gave me feels. Please Doctor find him again, I need it.
Tonight I intend to watch Stranger Things some more, but we’ll see what my energy is like.
The rest of the week there aren’t that many plans. The main thing is waiting for mail (both with medical info and the blu rays) and then Thursday night sky arts has a Christopher Lee documentary which looks interesting (followed by a showing of his version of Dracula which I’ve not seen).
The other main thing I wanna do is see Smile 2, though it’s deciding where. I can see it in town at the local cinema, which has the plus side of being the cheaper option but the negative side being that, because it’s a late showing, I’d have to walk back home. At least the roadworks has finished so I don’t have to take the long way but…
The other option is to go to Birmingham to the Odeon, most likely on the Saturday because there’s a Halloween event at Forbidden Planet with freebies and giveaways. The downside is, again, timing cause I won’t exactly have much money to get things but it should still be a nice time. I guess it depends on the weather (I still have to walk to the station) but at least it’d be an earlier showing than town. (And it also depends id there’s a need to go to the hospital, which I’m still wary of.
So I guess we’ll see. (Plus I’ve still not seen Smile again like I intended cause of everything)
Anyway, I’ve rambled enough so now I’m going to snuggle, maybe fic and watch QI

I'm glad it was a nice one, and you got some good vouchers to use. That Hotel Chocolat one is pretty great, I always use that on my bd.

Yeah it really was a good one! I ended up using it on some Halloween chocolates to try (and bonus, they had samples of new chocolate to try!)
