Stuff that makes me happy 1

Banner from [personal profile] dreamersdare who came up with this.

So most of the posts I’m gonna do for this will be more focussed (especially the Generation Loss one you’re gonna get subjected to!) but this one is gonna be a bit more scattered because it’s about yesterday’s Birmingham trip.

I ended up leaving pretty early which was a tad annoying (though I was able to finish the Fall Guy’s event since I was awake early enough to try). Because of the strikes happening this week I was worried the trains might end up messed up, however the first one did turn up. I didn’t do too much on the journey (I took two magazines to read but read neither Oop)

Since the first train had came I had an hour to wander round Birmingham. That was spent heading to the Bullring, which is a shopping center here connected to the station. I’d hoped to get the night sushi cat plush I saw before the Lovejoy gig but alas it wasn’t there, I’ll have to eBay it (hmv did have it though but it was 25% more which… nope)

In HMV they were playing a song that I couldn’t place and it bugged me but in up the end I did! It was Bury The Light, which was a Song Saturday here. I only had a brief look around but I got two things I wanted to get, namely the new Sleep Token and the new Now That’s What They Call Eurovision Contest. The latter is especially good because it’s four discs withvarious songs over the years which is much like one of the Eurovision playlists I have. (Here is the track list)

Since there’s something about the duality of these things I took a pic

I then went in The Entertainer and I wasn’t gonna get anything but I got a Mirror Sulu funko (it was on offer though I almost didn’t) and at the till the Lego Mario blind boxes were reduced so I got one of those too. I opened it later and it’s actually the most boring one (boom boom) which is a shame. I should’ve got another because they’re still on offer (I still want the birdo and blooper ones). The blind boxes (formerly bags) are honestly the best Lego Mario things in the range, because most of the sets are boring or bland (bar the pirate ship which looks so cool) but the individual characters are well done.

Then I met up with my friend Vin and we got her caffeinated and chatter, before heading to somewhere to eat. We went to Zizzi’s at her suggestion but it was a bit of a way out (and I got a bit turned around because there’s been recent construction which threw me off) but it was nice! The pizza was big and nice and the chilli bread was nice too (though made me wish the drink was bigger) after more chatting (about things from gigs, the craziness of getting tickets and other personal things) we headed back to the station and parted ways.

(I feel I should get a sticker for not mentioning gen loss in a conversation)

I decided to wander around birmingham, though it was annoying because it had suddenly got warmer. I got some dog treats and a drink (blue raspberrie which is so nice) and headed to Forbidden Planet. I was mostly going there to see if theDead By Daylight comic had come in, but alas it was delayed. I wasn’t gonna get anything but I saw there were signed Star Wars books and, after debating, I got them and a Doctor Who graphic novel, as well as a unicorn funko (from Shazam which I’ve not seen but I love unicorns.

Here’s the stuff from there. The Star Wras Hunters book is one I didn’t even know was a thing because the game isn’t out yet (as far as I know but it does look fun).

After wandering around a bit more, but getting nothing else (though it was nice to see so many pride flags around already). I went back to the station. Annoyingly the first train just sailed right past so I was delayed but at least it wasn’t that bad.

I decided to read some of The Quest For Planet X on the way back and read two chapters. I’m so behind on high republic stuff which is a shame (especially as I have a book pile of them to read) but this is from phase 2 which is in another time period so I don’t feel quite as lost. It also helped that there was mention of something happening on Jedha (the planet from Rogue One which is apparent a big deal in these books) but as the main Jedi character doesn’t know what’s going on it’s good. I wanna get back to read more soon to find out more about what’s going on (and read the graphic novel I got last npmonth which has a hot Nautolan).

When I got home there was mail but just issues of the Star Wras encyclopaedia (I’ve considered unsubscribing but I’m close to the end) but also the Dork Lovejoy issue, which I’ll have to look at properly soon.

I was unfocused and tired after the trip (and a bit headachey which may be because of the heat, tiredness or glasses) so I didn’t do too much. I watched Voyager (which was the Omega Directive, one of the eps I really like) zoned out during Springwatch then watched the Taskmaster finale (the new group seem like they could be fun) before heading to bed (after dealing with mum being ridiculous)

Today I woke with a bad annoying headache which ugh. And it’s still been so warm still bleh. I have got my new glasses at last though so I hope that the worst of the headaches are now over.

Now I’m gonna rest a bit, do more fortnite then reply to various things.
