So it’s now Eurovision time and I’ve broken out the Eurovision hits playlist the past few mornings.
The first semi final was on last night and I’d been told by someone it was the weaker line up of the two semis. And yeah, I have to admit I agree. There was a lot of balladry songs, often with a few in succession and it probably would have been better with them spread out.
There were a few good entries though. Armenia opened up with shirtless dancers, Latvia had a band singing about eating salad (and pussy?) and Bulgaria had a rock band that had 3 guys with curls! Alas none of those went through, which really annoyed me as some of the ballads that did were eh.
Iceland had a weird vibe, like they were trying to hypnotise us.
A few good bands did go through including Norway (which needs to be seen), Moldova (who were pretty fun) and Ukraine (who were guaranteed to get through but we’re actually pretty good and I liked the outfits).
They played clips of some of the songs auto going through and Franc actually seemed pretty good? And there’s a hot guy which is a plus.
A nice thing that they did for the show was being in the guy that was meant to represent them when the pandemic happened, allowing him to perform for a crowd. The song was only ok but it was a nice thought.
I’m sure I’ve missed something. But I’m looking forward to tomorrow. I hope The Rasmus ends up going through (who are representing Finland) but I know nothing of the others. (I always go in blind, I’ve not even heard our one yet.)
Other than that today has been a bit… low energy. It was nice listening to the rain this morning… less nice was someone drilling/sawing (also baffling cause it was raining). I did start some uni stuff, but I’m still not sure how it’s gonna go. I think I’m just gonna bs it and see if anything actually sticks.
Also yay for Foolish and Punz hanging out with Karl and Sapnap (and Punz’s heart eyes is so cute). I hope we get a stream or more pics or… something.
Other than that I’ve been so tired and drained today. We’ll see if that continues for the rest of the night.

So sad about Albania, Latvia, and Bulgaria not getting through. Latvia in particular were robbed. I'm glad Norway, Moldova, and Ukraine are through, at least! Hope tonight's semifinal is more fun.
