So it seems the nearest town is entering lockdown Halloween. I suspect that we’ll join it (if we’re not already, the government site doesn’t say).

I just... I wish we had a government that actually fucking worked in our interests instead of the self serving twats we have in power that are doing everything to avoid a second lockdown even though the R is now 3 and want to keep everything open for the sake of the economy. Just put everyone on universal basic income and lock all but key services down.

Fucking assholes.

I hear ya. My state has a massively large covid infection rate. And nobody does anything except require masks.

*hugs* As an Australian, I hate it esp bc I know it means it'll be even longer before I can come and visit. It's so awful to watch from down here. You guys are all being fucked over and it's just making it so much worse. <3

Yeah it really is! All they care about is the bloody economy and they’ll wear the country down till they have no choice. It’s frustrating

That's the problem, they need to give everyone affected jobwise an income and they won't. At least not consistently. I feel so bad for everyone in the hospitality industry because so many won't come out of this, cafes closed, jobs lost, a whole industry affected terribly.

Why they wanted to stop the furlough scheme at all I don't know, not with so much at stake.
