It’s like a pirate had a baby with an angel
I’m so glad I’m not in London right now. It looks like a bunch of thuggish racists have come out to play. I hope everyone stays safe.
I watched the rest of the Download thing last night. Motionless was still the best and it was disappointing that BVB only had one song. Tonight I’m watching only till Funeral For A Friend and then I’m switching to the isle of wright one for Queen and Adam Lambert. (And then Deliver Us The Moon since I got distracted by a monterey bay stream last night.)
Today I went to the co-op for the first time in weeks. It was strange because it largely seemed normal. (Bar the lack of flour.) I was the only one there in a mask (which came yesterday). It was a bit warm under it from my breath which was annoying but that might be cause I was walking the pup.
I just watched infinity War cause mum mentioned wanting to watch the one with the guardians. It’s still pretty good though so sad. We might watch Endgame tomorrow so I’ll see if my eh thoughts on it still stand.
What is something you think fandom, as a whole, needs? Either literally, like a service, or figuratively, like a 'head slap'?
I think all fandoms need that head slap, things are becoming so toxic in so many of them. I hate seeing the hate and bullying. People need to learn to stay in there lanes and leave people alone.
An extension of that is minors. I think minors shouldn’t be engaging in fandom. I know that’s an unpopular notion, but one look at places like twitter and tumblr and you can see why I think that. Minors are thinking it’s ok to harass people. Or that they push their way into fandom spaces not for them. Or they lie about their ages, engage with adults and then ‘call out’ said adults that they’ve deceived. It’s tiresome and it’s awful and I just can’t stand them. So sorry, unless that is a fandom for minors, minors should not be engaging in it.
Another thing I think fandom needs and I think I’ve mentioned it before, is a proper community space. AO3 is great as a fic hosting site but that’s all it is. There’s no real defined community space. That is to say places where people can interact, share prompts and recs and pics. It feels that communities are too scattered at the moment and it would be nice if there was something like that (discord can be good for that but it can also be closed off and some people don’t want to download a whole new app for it).
Lastly I’d love idreamwidth more active, like livejournal used to be.

Amen!
We are in fandom for a reason; it's what makes us happy. So why take your happy time and make someone else unhappy with it? That's just incredibly wrong.

It seems like every week there’s some absurd things with fandom involving harassment or bullying and it’s just... I don’t get it honestly. It someone likes a character or ship or something it costs nothing to leave them alone and focus on the parts you like.
