I’m gonna split this answer into two parts, things I like to watch and things I like to read/write.

Sci-fi stuff broadly speaking, if it is a show or film that’s set in space, I’m gonna be interested in it. From Star Wars and Star Trek to Doctor Who and Farscape, if it’s set in space I wanna see it. Why? Well I’m not exactly sure what the appeal is. I’ve just always had a fascination with space, so anything that taps into that holds an appeal to me. Plus sci-fi shows tend to tell interesting stories with equally interesting characters.

Detective stuff this is another broad one. I’ve always had an interest in whodunnits and murder mysteries, especially since they’re a staple of British tv. I have a tendency to like it more if it’s light hearted (Father Brown or Murder She Wrote) but I do like it darker if it’s done well (Silent Witness) but if it gets too grim I do tend to switch off. An important part, though, is the interplay between the characters. If that’s not well done then my interest just isn’t there. (Instinct, Bones, the NCIS series are all good examples of these)

Alternate universes/timelines I love when a show decides to show of an alternate universe, where everything is different. I especially love things like Earth 2 in The Flash, or the mirror universe in Star Trek, where everyone (or most people) are just evil. You can tell that the cast have a lot of fun playing these vastly different version of themselves. I also love seeing this in fic too, though it’s not often done.

Now onto the reading/writing side. (I could add mor3 to the watching side but brain=mush)

GSF/poly/open relationships one thing I like to read is gsf. In bandom (where I tend to be now) this tends to be the whole band together and I just.... love that. I love when they’re in, essentially, an open poly relationship with each other. (We need more poly stuff in general)

Sibling incest I can’t help it. If I see two hot brothers together, I’m gonna ship it. The Ways, the Maddens, the Palaye boys, Ben/Diego/Klaus, even the Winchester’s (despite not watching Supernatural in ages). I’m not sure what it, but just... Unf. Maybe it’s the forbidden love angle, since I mostly read it when it’s all consensual. I dunno I just love

BDSM most of the fic I love reading is smut fic and I love when various kinks are involved, from bondage and cock cages to watersports and gags, I just love it despite not having the experience myself. Maybe it’s like a form of living through it? I dunno.

Tentacles/ovipositon/body horror I’m smushing these things together cause... well just cause. I love tentacles. I think it started when I saw a pic of Link and Morpha from Ocarina Of Time and it just spiralled from there. Ovipositon is awesome too, because unf. And I love body horror stuff, where people undergo changes due to aliens/magic/infections.

I just woke from a nap before doing this, so I’m sure I’d add more if I was more focussed ah well.

Last night I had my eye on a Doctor Who collection season 19 boxset, since it was buy it now and it’s one of th only ones I don’t have (other than 12, which is getting rereleased so I’m waiting on that). I dunno why but it was still there after midnight so I ordered it.

Of course now that I’d ordered it, Mcr have added a new uk date. Ugh, it’s still in MK for some reason and it goes on sale Thursday so I’m gonna try and get it. I’m just glad I hadn’t gotten any of the other things I was meaning to order. I’m only gonna go for one of the cheaper seats, because I think that almost £100 is a bit much (and I think the view will be better than it would be standing).

Last night I got linked to Set It Off’s Lonely Dance and, damn, do I relate to that song so hard.

This morning I went to take something back for mum and get my meds. I’ve requested they switch to the smaller size which is easier to swallow. There was no bargains or anything today, though there was a cute dog leaving pets at home and I got doritos from Tesco.

I’m gonna get back to ficcing once I’ve had noms. My fic to do list is mostly the two xmas fic (which I still need to think on), an mcr gsf and a request from curious cat for a Rikey.

Kindness comes in many forms and, while I’ve not done anything specifically for this challenge, I have done some lately.

My last post include some recs to friends fic that are posted on ao3. My friend Cody is going through ficlets she did on discord and I’m rereading and commenting on every one (because comments are love!)

Speaking of discord, it’s a nice place to be supportive and kind it friends and each other. It’s great for providing distractions and venting and hugs, which I’ve done lately. As well as helping to inspire people to fic which is a plus. I’m gonna be helping someone with their fic at some point, they asked for help while I was asleep so I hope I can.

I finished a late gift fic for kat_lair which I posted the other day. I also posted once or Cody too.

I’m working on doing a fic inspired by Cody which I’ll get back to later after finishing uni stuff.

Mum had a tumble on Monday so I’ve been trying to make sure she doesn’t overdo things (which is hard cause she tends to do stuff when I’m not around to stop her) thankfully though, she’s been resting a bit.

I intend to comment more on some tabs I have open as well as other snowflake posts.

Usually these challenges have been fairly easy, but this one is a little more tricky and it’s taken awhile to decide what to do for it. Even as I write this I’m not sure what I’m gonna say.

So who inspires me? The general answer has, always, been my friends over the years. I wouldn’t have continued to write over the years without their inspiration and encouragement through comments. I’m not so going to list all the ones over the years, as it would be a pointless endeavour (and so many have just... vanished that they’d never see).

In 2018 I was at a bit of a loss, due to various reasons (which I won’t go into) I’d stopped writing altogether for months. Towards the end of the year though, I started making connections here and on twitter, which inspired me to write again. Users like turps wenchpixie sperrywink and turlough have all been so sweet and kind, which has meant so much to me. Also there’s people on Twitter like Vin and my loves Milo and Heather, as well as the people from discord, everyone from the Kliego one, as well as Cody and the others from the MCR discord. Without these people I’d still be lost and adrift, not writing anymore and shut away. I’m so grateful for these people and their comments and friendship.

Yesterday turned out to be... well.

So on Monday mum’s friend called and offered to give us a lift to pets at home to get pet stuff since the storm was due to hit. Unfortunately it would be after mums meeting at the library yesterday and I was concerned we’d miss the food delivery. Mum assured me it would be ok and... yeah, we missed it. Partly because on the way back we got stuck in traffic, ugh. It’s coming today at the same time and I hope I’ve not been charged more.

On the plus side while waiting for them (they had to stop off to get wool) I started a new Bert/Gerard fic, did a little art and got impatient. I didn’t get gunnies pig food from pets at home so had to settle for rabbit, but I did get cheap xmas stuff for Naryu. Sainsburys also had a sale on Lego, so I got a few Star Wars things because I was unattended. Pics will be up in a few days. (Or on my Twitter)

Last night was a lazy one mostly with tv watching and a little gaming. My friend from discord spotted some of my fics on a Waycest rec list which made me squee some!

Today I’m gonna build Lego and try to fic more once the shop has come.

Because of kat_lair I also signed up to fandomtrumpshate though I don’t expect to get anything.

I listened to The Magnus Archives while on Stardew and damn, Elias is a manipulative fuck. I also restarted Stardew numerous times cause the skull cavern fucked me over, ugh.

Today has been a lazy day and I’m gonna write more now. I also decided to start bandomkinkmeme so if anyone wants to leave prompts....

I did get doritos (though paid more than I’d have liked) and some cheap stuff fro: co-op to try)

*Finish reading my current book, Black Spire, which I started awhile back but due to a few things (trip away, sickness, it being dark) I’ve not been able to read it. I’m gonna try and get back to reading in the afternoons

*Resistance Reborn (and then Spark Of Resistance and Force Collector) once Black Spire is finished

*Finish the Canto Bight stories and then tackle my book pile of doom

*Read the comics I have, the rest of the age of Resistance ones as well as the Deathwish comics I won

*Finally finish going through the MCU visual dictionary

*Read the Curious Zelda book

Watching

*Continue watching The Witcher, which I started on Sunday

*Continue with Lucifer (I’m mid season 3 and I watched an ep last night after a break)

*Continue Stranger Things (from season 2), start the newest The Dragon Prince and the latest season of The Good Place as well as the new Lost In Space

*Watch the dvds and blu rays by the tv including Kingsglaive and the last two Underworld films

*Watch the new Doctor Who Blu Ray collection season when it comes at the end of the month

*Get back to watching stuff on Shudder as well as the random films on Netflix I have in my list

*Do a full rewatch of The Clone Wars before we finally get Disney +

Gaming

*Get back on Star Wars Fallen Order

*Do the rest of the post game Pokemon Shield stuff

*Actually finish some of the games I have on my Xbox (Stardew, indie games etc) and switch (Mario and Rabbids, Starlink etc)

*Renew the nintendo online at some point

*Finish Uni course, get next one sorted (in summer)

*Start using those oracle cards I got at around Xmas

Challenge #2

I’ve always been a fan of stuff in one way or another, though I didn’t get involved in fannish things until the internet. In 04 I got a livejournal and that led to a few things. I got involved in comms and started to write fic, which I’ve done on and off every since.

When I first started writing it was for Brit boy bands. First with Blue, Busted and Mcfly. (Even winning an award once for a Mcfly fic.) Later I ended up involved in My Chemical Romance and other related bands like Panic! at The Disco. I also have a fondness for Bullet For My Valentine, The Blackout, Funeral For A Friend and Lostprophets, who we’re Welsh bands who, sadly, hardly have a fandom now.

As time went on, after MCR ended, LJ started to get abandoned. The fannish people I knew seemed to fade away, vanishing into the ether. While I kept writing, it was only for the few that stayed and eventually become more and more niche to the point where, by the time I moved here, I was pretty much just doing Welsh stuff and Finnish stuff for the one friend that was still active.

At the end of 2017 I started posting on ao3 encouraged by new people, but alas a few months later they stabbed me in the back. Soon after the aforementioned friend abandoned me too so for most of 2018 I was pretty... bereft.

It was only toward the end of year that things started to improve and I started to write again.

The past year things went pretty well. Through The Umbrella Academy series I met a lot of awesome people and made a load of fic. It also led to me writing more MCR fic and starting my own discord for it, and with them returning I expect me to be doing more for them.

So yeah that’s a brief ficwise things.

I’m into more things than what I write about. I love Star Trek, Star Wars and Doctor Who but don’t really read fic related to them. Though I have been to conventions because of all three of them.
