The day that never was
So I’ve watched a few more eps of The Umbrella Academy (thoughts of eps 4-7 under the cut).
First off, I dunno how people have binged it all in one go. (I’ve even seen people that are part way through a second watch). I don’t think I could manage to sit through the whole thing. The closest I’ve ever come to watching a whole series in one go was one time when my cousin came and we ended up watching one of the clone wars series in one go.
Anyway!
So as the series has progressed more elements from Dallas have shown up, so much so that it really is a mash up between the two series. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, though it does mean things really could go any way now.
I liked how the siblings have been paired off in various combinations, which has shown off their dynamics really well. It also seems they do have their code names (as I’m sure I saw a sign saying seance in one of the flashbacks.) I squeed when they played one of Gerard’s covers too! It seems their more outlandish foes are in the universe of the series (during the flashbacks terminus is mentioned).
So I’m gonna do like what I did in the last post, which is talk about things with each sibling. (I’m gonna resist putting Klaus first this time despite him being my clear favourite.)
Luther. It was interesting to see how he got his new body and it was so sad to see that he’d been put on the moon ‘just to give him purpose’. I feel so sorry for him. At least the others got out and had some form of life but he just.... didn’t.
Diego. I love him, especially with his interactions with Klaus. I loved that he let Klaus tag along with him (more later). It was funny when he just smashed through the window to that guys house. I wish he’d stuck around at the detective’s crime scene and explained to the cops what happened instead of just running off (and seriously, why would they think he’d shoot someone? Knives are his thing). And I love his relationship with Grace.
Allison. I liked that she was suspicious of Vanya’s guy, especially since I was as well (and then it was proven right).
Klaus! My baby! I could go on about him all day I feel. He gets boners from being choked! He got Diego to tie him up! He went back in time and KISSED a guy! And had a relationship with him (and then saw him die ugh, but still). That’s one thing I really hoped we’d see and I am super pleased we did. I loved that he invited himself along with Diego and the whole scene in the bar (and him recognising Hazel which really helped them). And then when he went after Luther to help him, that was so sweet.
Though it was so sad to see him locked in a fucking tomb for the night! Fucking hell Reginald no wonder he’s so screwed up. It was interesting to see that the afterlife scene played out differently... and with Reginald there (and of course he’s bought back before key info).
But man, Klaus is just, my fav.
Five. The actor they got to play him is amazing. I can understand why it was the hardest role to fill but he completely pulls it off. Especially since a good chunk of his scenes have involved him without the rest of the Academy. His scenes at the commission where he blows the shit out of everything were so awesome, though I suspect it’ll bite him later.
Ben. It’s been awesome to see him and to have him help Klaus. He obviously cares about him so much and I’m glad he’s there, especially when he encouraged Klaus to help Luther (and him on the ice cream van!). I’d still like to see exactly how he died as well as his powers.
Vanya. I knew there was something up with her boyfriend (I feel for him, he had an abusive dad and finally snapped by killing him). But I kinda wished they’d gone the route of the comics, where it was an orchestra controlling her and her power related to her music more directly. But I guess we’ll see how it goes. I suspect he got those guys to attack them, to make her use her powers (or knew guys like that would be there). I knew Klaus tossing that book would bite them though.
Hazel and Cha Cha. They get a bit more of a personality and I really hope that Hazel survives to go with Anges, though I suspect Diego will kill him. I think Cha Cha heard his speech in the forest and though he had feelings for her, which made her more pissed off when he went off. I suspect she might kill him if Diego doesn’t.
I’m sure I’ve missed stuff, but I’m just ahh!
I may watch more eps tonight, but we’ll see.
Other than that, I read Umbrella Academy 5 this morning (No piss bot yet, poor Klaus but it feels like everything is coming together). Last night I went on Wargroove a bit and started season 2 of The Dragon Prince before going zzz.
