I think this is an interesting question! The short answer is no, there’s not been something that’s freaked me out enough to put me off a doctor like that.

I started with the 9th doctor, watching the first ep of the new series and I’ve watched every episode since at least once. (I should probably do a new who rewatch but I’m kinda waiting in case they do a fancy boxset of them like they have for old who). That ep you’re talking about is pretty creepy, and it’s one I’ve not watched for a long time. I would say 9 does have some pretty good eps, so I hope you do decide to give him a watch sometime

I think it is easier to get put off older doctors though. See you can get new who eps on full season boxsets and they’re presented as such on streaming services. (And reruns play them in order too.). That isn’t the case with old who eps, until pretty recently on two seasons were presented as a boxset and reruns are rare (as well as streaming things too).

When I decided to start watching old who eps they were part way through putting the episodes on dvd. However the episodes came out in a completely random order. You could have a 4th doctor ep for season 17 and then the next realise would be a 6th doctor from season 22, or a 7th from 25, or a 3rd from season 8. As such you kinda never knew what you’d get. You could get a companion you’d never seen before, or the episode where one joins or one leaves. The format gave variety, but it was also… all over the place.

Of the Doctors there’s two who I also saw a release and thought ‘ugh’ and for different reasons. The sixth Doctor is the doctor that I least looked forward to seeing his eps of, because he was mean, he was arrogant and abrasive. The eps were grim. It took until mark of the Rani to actually like him.

I’m also not so fond of the first doctor. First cause he’s a bit arrogant too, but also because his eps tended to be quite long and slow.

And oop that was rambly and kinda went over the place and probably didn’t fully answer the question oop
